Car insurance claim

    Hi All,

    History:
Person crashed into my car in a car park, admitted 100% liability, I got repair estimate from garage and sent it to her insurance company. They got engineer to verify estimate and today they sent me a letter saying they are not disputing liability and would I like to go forward with my claim?

    Question:
    They mention in letter:

"We would be most obliged if you could please forward the relevant final account invoice, and signed authorisation note, if you require direct payment to the relevant garage"

    Does that mean
    A. I have to get car repaired in garage I got quote from
    or
    B. Can I get it repaired somewhere else
    or
    C. Can I ask for cash instead?

    thanks.

You can have your car repaired where you want.
Don't forget to claim for depreciation, I think it's 10% of the repair cost.

I don't know about being paid direct, I had a tip years ago which was not my fault and I was paid direct. Whether things have changed, I don't know....but would like to :)

    thanks Neilw,

Il give them a buzz in the morning and see if I can get a cheque instead of paying garage directly.

    What insurance company is it?

Curious to know if your just going to get it fixed elsewhere and keep the change?

I had to wait nearly 4 years toi get paid.

I was given the amount that was on estimate didn't even bother fixing and sold car for a good price as I had it for 4 years and only depreciated €2000 for what I paid.

Maybe some companies are different but your 1 of the lucky ones getting paid so quick.
