Pulling adapter from shaft

Looking for some advice on the following:

I have bought a new shaft with a R1 adaptor on it(Matrix Radix HD7) - is it possible to pull this out and then put the shaft into a driver head in the traditional way - it's an old Callaway FT-3 head?(I'm aware I'll probably need a sleeve as I believe the shaft is .335 and the head is .350)

Would but trim to length myself - just wondering if this is possible to do and how much a pro is likely to charge me?

Yes is possible to do. Basically you heat the tip till the glue melts and pull the adapter off. Saying this it does take some expertise so would get a club fitter to do it.

Depending on where you are, I know Halpenny in Swords do it. Probably about €20.

Easy job if you have a pry bar or a shaft extractor, the tip needs to come off straight, as in no twisting as to damage the fibers and weaken the integrity of the shaft, do you want to use the tip again?

    Thanks for the reply

I'll probably drop it into a pro-shop somewhere near me to do it as I don't have any club making gear. Not to fussed on the tip but obviously it would be good to be able to reuse if possible.

Do you think a club pro-shop would be better than the likes of Halpennys/McGuirks?

Depends. IMO some pro's seem to be into the club fixing business and others don't.

Probably best to ring around local pro's and see.

Halpenny Golf have Professionals in store that could do it for you. not too sure if McGuirks do in house repairs, but I'm sure a quick call and you'd know.
