Got 63% in P5 and 50% in P4 so I'm actually an affiliate at last! So happy and can't believe it's all over. Congrats to everyone else who got what they wanted and if you didn't make it this time then the very, very best of luck for June. We'll all get there in the end!

    Hi,

Looking to sit F8 in June. I am based in Cork and was wondering do people have any suggestions as to where to study? Independent Colleges or Grifiith?

    Thanks

I did international -mainly because that was the course that was being offered in Independent Colleges.

Hey guys, looking for a small bit of friendly advice here.

I went down in P7,got 44. This is after second attempt, got 43 last time. I waas thinking of switching to P4 or P5. Was just looking for peoples opinions on the subjects. I only really know people who have sat P6 & P7. I work in practice.

    Congrats to all who passed.

Given the subject matter, I think a background in the financial markets is a huge help for P4 (in that you'd already have a broad understanding of the financial instruments on the syllabus) and you can then just focus on the exam questions.

I also did P7 (because I liked F8) -big mistake given my background.

The pass rates are so low for the option papers that I think failing one (or two) is almost a rite of passage.

Did the Irish Variant as you can't get an auditing cert in Ireland if you don't do it.. Did it in Independent Colleges. The lecturer isn't the greatest but its all about Reading the text and practicing questions as the same types of questions come up all the time.

If doing international then you wont get audit cert.. Then again if you didn't do the Irish Variant in P2 pointless doing Irish Variant in P7

The amount extra you have to learn for IRL P7 is tiny and mainly it relates to Directors Report and also Ethical standards using ES1 to ES5

Does anyone know if any of the colleges in Dublin offer a P2 retakers only class. A friend of mine can't face the prospect of going back to class etc. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

All of them do a Revision Only class -I'd imagine that's what your friend is looking for.

I'm looking for advice regarding my options for my June 2014 sittings.

I am committed to sitting F4 & P1 in June. I'm considering sitting P7 as well as I feel that having sat P2 recently that this module lends itself to Audit or am I reaching here??

Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I also have to add that time off work will be at a premium..

Most of the colleges now offer a 50% discount to students who are resitting a paper, he could pick and choose which classes to attend. He should ensure that he can hand up regular homework and have it corrected and returned

Go along to one of the Colleges open evenings and ask them for advice

Yeah I know they offer revision only but I think a few colleges use to offer a specific "retakers" only class in certain subjects. Was like maybe 8 classes for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning.
Don't think he trusts himself to do some study if he leaves it until the revision classes :)

That's prob not a bad idea - he could just look at the class timetable and pick what areas he feels he's a bit weak in etc.
Cheers I mention that to him now - as you said with them offering 50% discount prob works out much of a much
