Outside of the clubs, balls, tees, repair tools, raingear, drink etc, the usual stuff, what else have you found handy to bring in the bag?

    For me .......
    - Rule book
    - Paracetamol
    - Extra glove
    - Pack of tissues

A ziplock bag to put my phone in when it's lashing it down. Don't want the oul smartphone getting water damaged. Other than that just a couple of wrenches for the adjustable clubs!

Can't believe I've never thought of that. I normally wrap the phone in towels and jumpers to try keep it dry!

Never been caught out but I was playing with a mate last year and he had to answer an urgent call the week before.
He had baby wipes with him and I've had them in the bag since.

The wipes are handy to give the clubs a wipe post round (if I ever remember to do so) too.

Call me optimistic but I always have sun cream in the bag and a cap. The cap hasn't been worn and I think the cream is out of date.

    Sun Cream
    Plasters
    Spare Battery for the laser
    Ziplock bag
    Spare socks (just in case)

    Plasters
    Rules book
    Suncream
Jaffa Cakes/ Bananas (if it's important)
    Aspirin (if it's not.)

On top of many of the things listed above (with the exception of jacks paper)

    - Fly / insect repellant
    - Spare money to cover unplanned game losses, comp entry etc. for the days when I am 'caught short' from a funds perspective
    - Backup battery for phone
    - ziplock for car key (as well as phone)

My normal bag weighs 18-19kg, as all seasons are covered - at all times !

This time of year, packet soup! We have a kettle after the 9th hole, nothing like Cream of Chicken soup to f*&k up your score on the 10th.

Plasters, rule book, marker, suncream and fly spray, spare batteries for GPS, small tin box of coins, paracetamol and ibuprofen for when the back plays up, depending on the time of year mittens and wooly hat, always spare gloves and a pair of rain gloves...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,886 ✭✭✭WHIP IT!

Wasn't intentional, but I had my first round of the year yesterday (birdied my first hole of the year by the way!) and, after six weeks under the stairs without being looked at, took out the clubs and found a half pack of wine gums in the pocket.... Nom Nom Nom...

Played with a bloke who got caught "unawares" and owing to him not having toilet roll or tissues he had to get a little creative.
Let's just say he had to explain to his wife why he came home with no socks on.....

I tend to carry as little as possible as I carry my bag.

However I always find that old "white" Mars bar in the bottom of the bag. It is very tempting to eat it sometimes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

Bar the usual. About 5/6 old gloves, I never throw them away i just leave them in the bag, very handy during a wet round, fresh glove every second/third hole.
The zip lock bag is a great idea.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 492 ✭✭TrapperChamonix

Ziplock bags for everything, phone, wallet and especially for any spare gloves I carry. Also storing your glove in the bag ensures it doesn't get dried out and cracked.
Swiss Army Knife and electrical tape. Used at various times for repairing, trolleys, bags, shoes, club grips and glasses. But interestingly enough never for myself.
Finally, 5 & 10cents pieces, cause one of my playing partners never has a ball marker and I hate when he starts using tee pegs to mark his ball on the green.

I hope to God you've also included doggie poo bags to accompany the wet wipes in anticipation of your next episode.

Thankfully I've never personally gotten the calling!
Sure I could just use a ziplock bag....

I have it in my head that you're not allowed to adjust clubs during a round. Is that not the case?

Outside of golf stuff tissues, handsanitiser and chocolate are about alli have in the bag.

    .

You can't adjust a club during a round but you can tighten the screws if they become loose.

Correct. Only when playing competition tho. You can adjust as much as you want in a friendly game!

    In my "important round" bag
    plasters
    lip balm
    ibuprofen
    bite spray
    fly spray
    sun screen
    medical tape (about 5 rolls!)
    spare laces (life saver)
    spare socks
    shorts
    zip lock bags
    packets of tissues
    peak & wooly hat
    hand warmers
    sun glasses
    bonjella
    strepsils
    spare gloves
    rain gloves
    winter gloves
    mitts

Carry bag has the bare minimum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

    I wouldn't bring half that on a safari :)

The spare laces... A life saver? In case you get bitten by a snake and have to get the laces out to cut off blood circulation?

(I actually have most those items in the bag... Except the mini pharmacy)

Where can you buy waterproof zip lock bags? Can't believe I didn't think of them either

is it only me that finds it disturbing that a lot of golfers bring toilet roll in their bags in case "they get caught short?!!"

No way am i looking for my ball in the rough or behind trees any more!!!!

Ever try to play golf in a pair of golf shoes that have no laces?

Come back to me when you have!

Pharmacy is really only for emergencies, trying to play a match etc when you have a sore throat, headache, itchy bite, blister is very annoying...

Most large supermarkets have them, I used to use sandwich bags and just tie the top of them but now i just don't bring my phone with me.

Excluding the obvious like ball marker, tees, pitch mark repairer and spare balls, etc!

    Light rain jacket
    Winter mitts
Bag of Natural Confectionary Company jellies (can't be any other brand :p)
    Water
    Rule book
    Spare glove
    Woolly hat
    Sunscreen
    Sunglasses

I don't carry waterproof pants in the bag. If it looks like a day where rain might be an issue (or if the forecast tells me) I'll wear the waterproofs going out. Have a nice breathable pair that are no huge difference to wearing normal trousers anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Might be a weird one but I've put a few cable ties in my bag (carrier). Strap broke on hole 4 once miles away from the clubhouse, greenkeeper was passing and was about to give me a life back to the clubhouse and back out again with a trolley when he suggested using them. Worked a treat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,098 ✭✭✭Johnny_Fontane

    5 year old sunscreen
    plasters
    difene
    water/sandwich/nutrigrains
    golfbuddy gps
    3 old gloves

I carry but have one of those titleist waterproof bags that weighs like 2kg or something.
