Trying to program a key that came with car to operate doors remotely.
However having difficulty getting car into learn mode.
    Anyone any experience??
I've tried the rotate key in ignition 4 times and sometimes I get a a really quick chime and the yellow info light flashes for a split second.
But that's all that happens... Mg understanding is that this light should stay on all during the learn process.
    Any help be greatly appreciated.
    Marty.

Check the battery is in the key the right way around and its a good battery.

Keep turning your ignition on and off it could take ten or twelve turns.

    Then press your remote button.

    Cheers Martin,
Id say at this stage ive tried the 10/12 times but ill give it a go again.

Can you answer me these 2 questions.

Once in learn mode should the warning light stay on??(it just flashes on for me you see)

Should it be yellow or red and does it "chime" again once it has received the signal?

I have a new battery in the right way round(i checked online as its easy misinterpret the orientation)

    Thanks,
    Marty.

There is no light when it goes into learn mode it will chime then when you press the button on the key it should chime again turn off your ignition and that should be it.

    Cheers for that again.
What ive read on the ford sites it would appear you keep the key out of ignition once you hear the initial chime...from your description it would appear you leave it in?
At position 0 or 2 would you know.

Id say ive tried every permutation at this stage so im probably looking at a duff transmitter.

Anyone got anything on reprogramming a car key,I found a method for an older model but nothing for my car, even the manual is worse than useless.

    Bump.

Still no joy finding how to do this on the newer Lancers, plenty for the old model.
Anybody got any ideas bar going to the dealer and forking out for a job that should take 2 minutes.

Why dont you go into a dealer and ask if there is no information available chances are it has to be programmed using diagnostic equipment.

Looks like I may,99% of keyfobs can be reprogrammed at home but even the manual is no use.A page on key programming which is actually useless, tells you it can be done but then says consult your dealer.
