    Hi,
I am looking for cheap flights from Dublin to Boston in July this year. Thinking of heading over for a friend's wedding. It looks like most airline's prices jump up significantly come late June/July. Aer Lingus have a sale on at the mo but it's still €740 return to Boston. When i say cheap i am thinking more along the lines of 500/600 return but not sure if this is realistic in the summer months? Does anyone know of any websites that i could check out for cheap flights? Also I haven't traveled to the U.S for a while but does anyone know if Aer Lingus do sales closer to the Summer or is it a case of the earlier you book the cheaper? Any help much appreciated!
    Thanks ;)

    You're booking way too early.

    Keep an eye on holidaypirates.com

    Also use kayak.ie to search.

90 days in advance for booking is about the sweetspot imo.

Hey thanks a million. That holiday pirates website looks deadly. Just signed up to that and have signed up to the flight alerts from Kayak. Thanks a million. Fingers crossed!

Your first mistake was trying to book with Aer Lingus. They're a decent airline but their prices are shameless rip-offs. From a quick search on Skyscanner, I found return flights DUB to BOS for €564 with Iberia Airlines, leaving on July 2nd, returning July 9th. You could probably get even cheaper if you fiddle around with the dates.

You don't have to fly direct. You can get to Boston from Dublin with so many different airlines if you'll accept a short stopover. Like I said, check out Skyscanner.

www.skyscanner.net is throwing back flights for €648 around the time you want to fly, just as a guideline. Tailor the flight dates and you'll probably find cheaper.....

Sorry i should have mentioned i have to go on certain dates cause i can't get time off work so it's either the 3rd to the 7th or the 4th to the 8th as have to be back in Ireland for another wedding the week of the 8th! Madness with all the weddings. Anyway thanks for the tips. I'll keep an eye out on Skyscanner as well.

I usually go with cheapflights.ie. Cheapest they are showing from 3rd to the 7th is €661. That's all in an no extra taxes.

The fact that you're looking so close either side of July 4th is probably what's pushing up the prices. Worth checking daily; I'd been looking at flights to Newark around the same time and everything was coming in around the €650 mark (ex-Shannon). Then one morning I found the exact same flights (with United Airlines) suddenly available for €497 — needless to say, I grabbed them. They're back up to €650+ now.

Thanks a million. That's interesting how they fluctuate day to day. I must do that so over the next while and hope they go down! Were you checking the United Airlines website itself or the likes of skyscanner or something?

If you're willing to fly non-direct you should find a flight within your budget.

If you need a hand finding a cheap flight get in touch. Happy to help

Never heard of holidaypirates and it looks fab !! Thanks.

I am considering booking for San Fran for mid July(for a friends wedding)...would it be wise to wait until your recommended 90 day window or book now ? Its expensive at the moment but could get worse, then we would need to stay at home !!

Depends really ... if you see a sale between now and then it might be worth it to pick them up. But booking 5 months in advance is a little early.

Might be worth also keeping an eye on http://www.urlaubspiraten.de/ (German version of HolidayPirates) use Google Translate via Chrome for some decent deals out of Germany.
