    Hi,

Usual info request that is requested on a daily basis.

Looking to move to a new car (second hand), currently have a 2 3-door cars at the moment which will be sold, traded in or whatever, due to baby. Wife will be getting an x5 which all but sold to us.

However, I need to get a car for myself. I currently do about 130km a day for the commute which is mostly motorway / national roads mileage. I'll be looking for a diesel, obviously, 5 doors and a standard boot. I want a car that's comfortable and easy to maintain. I've been looking at Volvo's for some strange reason. Budget is about 7-8K.

    Thanks

U can't go wrong with any vw related . Which is a large choice when u think if it . Audi , skoda , and the majority of vw diesels are in a different league as far as I'm concerned for economy and reliability.
    Skoda superb , Octavia ,

Mazda 3 hatchback is very reliable. Diesel engine is very economical. €65 does me every 2 weeks and I would do a nice bit of driving on a weekly basis! Anyway it's a reliable car! Worth a look at! 😊

Volvo S60 is a lovely motorway car. Get the 2.4 diesel engine. It's a peach. The car is reliable, comfortable, and very well built and safe.

Op does it makes any difference to you whether it's 4or5 door?
    I guess it doesn't.

    Thread tidied.

mathepac, For Forks Sake you can either make recommendations for the OP, or not post. Bickering/derailing this thread is not on.

I'll second this, purely because I have one. It's got plenty of power, its economical (I'm averaging 48-50mpg with a heavy foot) and they're a very comfortable place to rack up the miles.

    Skoda Superb? ...
Perfect. The TwinDoor design feature fitted since 2008 makes it a very strong, flexible contender. The New Passat is based on the same chassis.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Defo will look into Volvo S60.

It doesn't matter if its 4 or 5 doors, as long as there is a decent boot to put in the pram and that goes with that.
