Eggs that dont taste of eggs.........

Confusing title I know but bare with me on this............

So I have seen countless posts and threads on healthy eating here. I have made some changes to my diet such as including more veg. For example most evening I through some frozen carrots and parnips and few chicken breasts in the oven for 40 mins which cooks away while I either jump on my wieghts bench for 30 mins or go for a run. Lunch has been made a bit easier as I bought a slow cooker and I can bring a stew or curry into work which is delish and filling. Prior to this dinner could have been sausage, beans and oven chips? Luch could have been a chicken and bacon sarnie with no veg. I do have the odd of day but generally it has been good.

However I was wondering about breakie? I have a bowl of porridge most mornings in the office followed by a tub of watermellon chunks and maybe a bannana mid morning. Sometimes this works to keep the hunger at bay, other times it does not. I hear eggs are good at filling one up for a morning but I am not a fan of the taste. Is there any way to eat eggs where they dont taste of eggs? Pancakes? Muffins perhaps? Or should I just stick to a protein shake before I leave the house and have my porridge when I get to the office?

    Cheers

    frAg

Pancakes as you mentioned. You can liquidise the uncooked porridge oats with eggs & milk to make pancakes. Old thread here with ideas http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055002535

I have been making with the tescos own brand of ready brek, so I don't need to liquidise, its sort of half flour half chopped oats, I like the consistency.

I have also been mixing in cocoa and coconut flour or dessicated coconut for a healthier chocolate & cake "fix".

Eat your protein, don't drink it unless you can help it - it won't fill you. Who says you need to have typical breakfast proteins? Slap on a steak for breakfast, or some tuna, or a chicken salad. Convention's for losers :)

Would I use one egg per pancake? I bought tiny containers that I reckon would hold enough pancake mix for one pancake. Was thinking of making a batch and freezing them and then leaving one out the night before so its ready to hit the pan in the morning and then when cooked a bit of crunchy peanut butter and eat it on walk to the bus?? I have desicated coconut flakes and choc protein poweder too?

What break down of eggs to flour and milk would you recomend?

    cheers

What rubadub mentioned there is just swapping out plain flour with oatflour (blended oats or readybrek) in a standard pancake mix. 1 egg (or 2 if you like to push it) per 100g of flour (see here). It might be an idea to drop the eggs for protein and throw in some vanilla or chocolate whey into the milk before adding it to the receipe. Same difference but more protein.

You could drown out the eggs with strong flavours, for instance having a omelette and when it's done throw some strong cheese on top (only a little mind you) and perhaps a slice or two of peppered salami - it's overpowering stuff in large doses but since that's what you're going for it could help getting it down.

Preparation is the key. Cook it while you're cooking dinner the previous evening, microwave for a minute the following morning :)

I shold mention that I despise cheese in all formats.........apart from cheesecake!!

When I usually make pancakes I either blitz up some oats into a flour or I use rice flour as I find they are not as bloaty/heavy! Maybe one egg and half a scoo[ of protein per pancake would work and fill me up esp with some nut butter on it.

I do sometimes do this with chicken breasts in the evening.........it seems prep is key!!

a really good pancake is the 2 ingredient pancake. 1 banana 2 eggs. mash and fry. Taste nothing like eggs.

Eggs are really versatile and can be cooked and prepped in loads of ways that they don't taste like "eggs"
cook them on their own and add almost any powdered spice and they will compliment the flavour. and no longer taste eggy.

crack them, whisk them and stir into an omelet. with ham/chicken/veg and cheese

There are loads of egg bake recipes on boards, you can do that easy, add anything you like to it and it wont taste like a block of egg. Search for "egg bake"

If you just want a filling breakfast you dont need eggs. they are just a good choice.

steak is nice for breakfast. minute steak if your rushing, or a different cut if you have time or cook it the night before.
beans, bacon. also a good option.

Yoghurt, with peanut butter and banana, nice proteiny fatty start to the day

Sounds nice, very nice! You could even go the savoury option with pancakes/crepes, something a lot of people don't do. For me some Bacon/Salami +Chicken breast + Eggs in a crepe for the morning is just the ticket. Can't be beaten, although you've to watch the calories since the bacon/salami will have some fats to throw them up a bit.

Chop some smoked salmon into scrambled eggs, and see how you like that? Fridge to plate in about 3 minutes :)

I have a link in my first post with ideas (I edited the post & you might have missed it).

You can make them in batches and store them in a fridge or bread bin. If they are thick enough they can be popped in a toaster.

I am trying to stay off eggs at the moment and use unflavoured whey protein powder as an egg substitute.

You'd save what, 3 minutes? Steak is fast as hell to cook.

Two eggs + one banana = really good pancake batter.

It should be cooked from room temperature, oiled, salted/seasoned, wait for pan to be very hot, 3 minutes (or 5 if you don't like it raw) if it's a normal steak, perhaps less if it's minute steak. In the mornings every second counts :)

I had them for breakfast this morning, very handy and tasty.
The banana I used wasn't too ripe, I imagine they might be very sweet using a very ripe banana.
Got 4 decent enough pancakes out of 1 large banana & 2 eggs.

OP that used to be me all over!:) Decided to give up weet-a-bix a few weeks back as I wanted to limit the amount of wheat in my diet a bit (staying away from bread to as much as possible). So, as a result I needed something to fill in for the weet-a-bix in the mornings. I knew eggs were filling and nutrious but I HATED, HATED them, no matter what way I tried them, the rubbery texture and taste made me gag.

Seemed I liked them as a child but then went completely off them. Well, one day I simply decided I would have to learn to like them. So, and I don't know if this sounds odd to people or if anyone else does this, but I fried an egg and then season it with nutmeg and cinnamon! This really helps with the taste in my opinion. Still can't eat boiled eggs or omelettes though!:pac:

It's lovely! Now I have an egg for breakfast every second/third day others days I just have fruit! Hope that helps! I was just like you when it came to eggs, never thought I'd be eating them routinely for breakfast! Just had to woman up and get use to it! :)

Am I the only person who thinks it looks like you are eating a raw quarter pounder with bananna?
