Hello, I want to close my bank account, but I'm in UK now. It's possible to do that?
    Thank you.

    Hi Helen_G,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here on boards.ie.

We're sorry to learn that you wish to close your account. However, it is certainly possible to do so while you are abroad.

You can send a written request to your account holding branch. The branch will deduct any outstanding fees from the balance and can transfer the remaining funds to an account of your choice. They would require account details to do this.

You can also request that the balance is issued to you by draft, if requesting this please state who the draft should be made payable to.

Contact details of your branch can be found here.

If we can help you with anything else, please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Elaine

    Hi Helen_G,

Thanks for coming back to us.

Regrettably, we do not have any active branches in the UK. So you will need to post your request to your branch in Ireland. You can also call your branch directly if you require any assistance with this matter. A representative will be more than happy to help you.

    Thanks again,
    Elaine
