Douchbags are actually designed by a pro skier as he was slick of shot bags they are also adjustable to about 4/5 configurations

Aer lingus have a 16KG limit on ski bags and wording in their t&c that say one pair of skis and poles

Go for the fall line if you are getting the dakine one. The other doesn't have wheels and two sets are a lot of weight to carry round on your shoulder!

Yea I know, I said his promo video a while ago, but they're so expensive and given they're name I just would't buy one.

You've presumably flown with Are Lingus a few times with more than one pair, ever been pulled up?

Jesus, Ryanair is €50 each way. Crazy.

We use a snowboard bag for 2 pairs pf ski's the limit with aer lingus is 23kg and Ryanair 20kg, the cost of transport is still cheaper than decent quality rental in a decent resort.

Oh I know it's still cheaper, but looking from it from a point of view of how fast I can 'break even', I'd rather share cost.

Have Aer Lingus ever pulled you up on two pairs of skis in one bag?

Once it twice I have been pulled up as WC GS & SL skis are heavy!!

Have been charged on one occasion for the extra

Still worth risking though. Presume you've been through a good few times?

    Yeah 9/10
    You should be ok

Airlingus pulled 2 out of 4 of our group last year on over weight ski/board bags.. No way we were going to pay extra so moved stuff around all our bags until they all came in under the limit!
Not exactly friendly about it either!

Are you sure? Their limit for snowboards (and ski bags according to the link) is 23KG http://www.aerlingus.com/i18n/en/htmlPopups/baggageinformation.html

OP - make sure you get something with wheels, I didn't and it's a killer trying to carry the bags beyond a few hundred meters at high altitudes.

I can easily pack all my gear, board, boots etc, plus evening attire, etc. into my snowboard bag and my free carry on bag. It only costs €10 more to bring sports equipment, than it does for regular checked in baggage. So I'm only spending €10 extra each way to bring over my own equipment, which is saving me about €90 per trip... I think :D

Yeah sorry it's actually changed this year bye the look of the link so that's a good thing!

Wheels on the ski bag will add weight to the bag before you put anything in it some are heavier than others but very handy when trying to get them round

Yea of the two Dakine bags I looked at up there, the one with wheels is about 2kg heavier. Still only 3.6kg though which leaves another 20kg for two pairs of skis, or if I'm traveling on my own, just one bag.

If Are L have changed their rules I'm sorted.

The wheels aren't necessary for somewhere small like Innsbruck but for a bigger Airport like Zurich where there's a bit of walking to the Train Station, Bus or car rental it'd be handy. Only €10 in the difference as well.

Also, who ever's been harping on about Blue Tomato, thank you. Bag I'm probably going to get has free shipping off them, compared to some clowns looking for £37 on ebay!!

EDIT: Now Blue Tomatoe say they don't have it even though their website says they do. Uuuugh

Just wondering, is anyone doing a direct flight from Dublin to Innsbruck these days? Would be handy... (except for those slightly unnerving approach & landings..!) ;-)

Never been asked about the number of skis, I flew out on the 1st of Jan Aer lingus, with a weight of 23kg no problem at all. :)

If there's spare space on the place, Crystal might let you book flights only.

No normal airlines direct from Dublin, just the charter.

Such a great airport to fly into. Except last week, when I had to fly into Munich!
