So after getting a Moonbase cocktail of keith some 6 months ago I'm nearly there.A bit left to do for sure.

I wanted to keep it as original as possible so kept all parts I could salvage.
I really don't want a spanking gleaming cocktail, more one that still shows its age and authenticity.
Cosmetically I kept every thing and scrubbed them to an inch of their lives except the coin mech which I still haven't tackled..its the original but missing most parts and I have yet to repaint/etc.

Inside every thing was stripped and 60 in 1, jamma harness and monitor added.

    pics to follow

Monitor was necked and no power going to anything so I really only had one choice I think

Not that bad actually and a good project for a novice like me.

    Stripped

    Out with the old.

Laid bare and legs polished and attacked with every chemical I could find for about a week

The legs turned out grand I think, I can live with them with out the expense of re-chroming them.
I decided not to spray them either in the end as that chrome sheen would be lost.

Note...DO NOT use rust remover containing 20% Phosphoric acid with no gloves.

I ended up with weeping sores and a rash on both hands and all down my arms for two weeks.

Cleverly I also had a few smokes and rubbed my face the same day...
Enter a man with bloated lips and an angry itchy plague on my face.
Seriously my missus was trying to forcing me to go to hospital

Looking at the result it was worth the sores and rash !

I love those old woody style cocktails, are you keeping an original crt in there ?

yeah , the first arcade cab I played at the tender age of five/six was a space invaders cocktail in a pub in Cavan.
The exact same as this model..Taito/Nichibutsu.

It ignited my passion for games and I am chuffed that I finally got one.
OOOOhhh CRT monitor all the way man, it would be useless in my eyes otherwise.

Must get the finger out and start working on mine again, used christmas as an excuse to do nothing on it.

Yeah Keith that other monitor I have for you is feckered.
It was good but now just flickers constantly with weird colours and the screen burn is Sh1tty.

I got three off mitch, two necked by my good self.
I know you got a few that I saw..if you have any tubes that look decent we can swap the chassis, probably the same pokey models. You could be good to go

Any way so the new arrive.
14" Monitors from Mitch , PSU and Jamma Harness.

Such a tight fit with these 14" monitor and chassis I necked the first putting it in.

First time I've heard that hiss and I near shat myself. I wish there was a video because I jumped to the other side of the room and hunched in the corner.
I thought it was a bomb going off, such a forboeding sound. The second monitor I manged to secured chassis to the side of the cab instead of directly below the neckboard and I had about 1mm clear.

It Lives, and I must say a lovely display on the monitor

I'd take a joker poker chassis if there's one going!

The control panels and all components were washed, bathed and sprayed
I decided to keep them all and not swap them out, joysticks buttons and all.

Starting to shape up well after a good bit scrubbing and spraying/painting.

Unfortunately the table top would not fit on the table with the curvature and size of the new monitor with out widening the hole which it fits through.
Something i didn't want to do, but there was no other choice.

Feck i didnt do it, I am cack handed at woodwork so my mate did it with a jigsaw.

A few shots with the paint work touched up...
I'm sorry i didn't take more during the process.
I used regular black spray paint., but then said f**k it and got the paint brush out with gloss paint.

Inside wiring is a bit of a mess and i'll clean it up a bit more.

I've no line filter or fuse between AC in and PSU/monitor which worries me but i shall sort it.

I got a sheet of tempered glass cut for 30 euros locally.
There is no tint on it, so I think ill get some plastic tint from an auto shop and stick in on the underside.
Otherwise you can see parts of the monitor frame.
I just sanded and resprayed the corner clips.

just a few things left now.

I need to get a new coin mech,It's set to freeplay at the moment anyone know where..

    would this do the job?
    http://www.arcadeshop.de/Coin-Mech-Coin-Plate-Steel-05-EUR_548.html

Also player 2 start button is knackerede..the receptor for microswitch is rusted off....They seem impossible to find anywhere.

I have to remove the majority oif games from the boot list.

I think i'll just leave Galaxia,Galaga, space invaders,Arkanoid,Moon Cresta and Bomb Jack.

Actually whats really annoying me is the sound on Bomb jack..it goes all dodgey..any one else have a 60-in one board with the same problem.
P1ssing me off as I love the game

Seems to be the only game on it with sound issues

Yeah I had a good look at your restore Kev, nice job.

It's actually what re-ignited my passion to seek a cocktail cab.
Plus I actually showed your one to me missus and she agreed it looked loverley. That gave me the green light:)
So many thanks for that, and 1000 thanks to Keith for supplying it to me.

They really are a tank of a cab, nice and portable as well.
I just need to finish it now
