Mirror glass gone!

I left my car parked on a sideroad in Rathmines I've a parking permit for on street parking and I've never had any damage done before. Anyway I folded the mirror in on the drivers side. Came back from holiday today and found the mirror swiveled around facing the front of the car, with the glass gone!

I didn't even know the mirror could swivel forward. No it appears to me that it would be physically impossible for a passing car to this. Some d**khead obviously took the time to do it by hand.

Has anyone seen this before? Was I making my car a target by folding the mirror in?!

Welcome to the world of motoring :)
It's more common than you think. Scummers on foot or bikes kicking wing mirrors. Some will even grab and yank them, as well as aerials or anything really.

*Some people just want to watch the world burn*

You can probably buy glass at breakers and glue it back on, depends on the damage.

Same thing happened to the missus in Tesco's Roscommon, cant remember if it was a yaris or a micra, but they took the glass out of the drivers side. It was obviously some scruffy scumbag who needed one or knew someone who needed one.

You should get a glass at any motor factors for your car, or even breakers as Biko mentioned.

No conspiracy theory here really. Skanger passing Corsa parked with door mirror folded in, skanger being a skanger decides to damage it for a laugh.

If it's only the glass that is damaged then a motor factors will cut replacement glass to the correct size, then stick it on over the existing glass with double sided sticky tape or glue.

You can get them in Halfords for 11 euro ish. Only thing is they are designed to stick on over broken glass, so you would have to use some form of glue to stick it on.

Yep swivel forward is normal.. as for the glass, not much you can do other than get a replacement.. be glad only the glass part is gone.. otherwise it will cost more to replace
