Hi I got a letter from the welfare saying that my M.I.S payment is being reduced ...

"From Jan 2014 there is a change in the minimum contribution payable to couples in receipt of M.I.S towards their mortgage interest.

Department records show that a social welfare payment in respect of a couple is being made to your household. As a result of this change, your M.I.S is being reduced from €90.67 to €69.07 per calender month from Jan 2014"

My question is that although my partner and I are living together the last couple of years as a cohabiting couple and I am claiming for her on my JSA the past year or so, She does not have a mortgage, the mortgage that I took out 14 years ago is in my name only,

So does this new change actually apply to me?

As you are claiming JSA as a couple, your MIS claim will be treated the same way.

there was no reason giving for stopping payment he was claiming this since 2009 and a medical assessment last august just said he was no longer entitled to this this is under appeal at the moment and the social welfare would not allow him to sign on jobseekers so he is claiming cwo allowance more medical edivence has being sent to them in feb but we are still waiting on the out come of this
    information

would you no if the social welfare would normally send a letter to say the recieved the latest letters we send them on yhe 4 th of feb and have herd nothing yet

The social welfare aren't going to pay of your capital asset and will only pay the interest portion and as it's only €32 it's below the minimum contribution that you have to make. But it is funny how SW have no problem to paying a landlords mortgage through rent supplement to the tune of a grand a month:rolleyes:. Goodluck with your appeal.
