Hello, i have a spitfire 1500 , with the classic sag on the drivers side, 1 to 2 fingers gap above tyre to wheel arch on drivers side, verses 2 to 3 fingers on the passenger side.

the rear shocks are good, and the cars sits fine if the back is jacked up and than lowered, put goes back to "normal" sag once rolled forward.

ive been looking at a dutch truimph website, and they mention making teflon "buttons" and putting them in between the leafs to correct the sag.
    heres a link: http://www.triumphspitfire.nl/rearspringpads.html

    so to my question:

has anyone here done this to there spitfire (or similar designed rear suspension car) and could anyone recommend a person to turn these buttons for me on a machine lead in cork area (or anywhere else that will post to cork!)

    thanks

I'm sure I read somewhere that it is possible to get leaf springs re-tempered (or whatever the process is) to put them back in original spec. Other than that, replacing them is not overly difficult if you have the gear.

It's a common enough problem on jeeps and pickups so maybe someone on the 4x4 forum will know a bit more.

just to follow up on this, i replaced my leaf spring with a new one as the top small leaf had actually cracked in the middle and broke in two when i removed the spring lol.

ordered new spring and rear shocks and renewed wheel bearings and new bushes and shoes.

shes sitting much higher at the back now, Slightly toe-in actually, but this is beginning to settle now after a few summer runs.

Good job that. Did you have any trouble pulling the rear hubs ?
What kind of pullers did you use ?
