hi all anyone have any advice for the best runners for an achilles injury????

Runners won't fix an injury. Best advice would be to see a medical practitioner and get it sorted

I had issues with this for a couple of years - combined with physio, dry needling and foam rolling I started waring Saucony road running shoes the Truimph range and the issue is now kept at bay - Still do alot of foam rolling and change shoes about 400 miles but still in the pink - Thank God

No runners will cure the problem and I can tell you that from experience.
Runners with a low heel to toe drop can certainly aggravate it

Yep no runner will resolve the issue but can make it worse. Best to haev the issue resolved and rest than run with issue.

You're only wasting money if your looking to buy runners to fix this,

I actually find traditional runners cause my achilles tendon to flare up as my form goes to crap.
I tried lots of things, but the only thing that worked for me was doing a lot of work on my form and starting running in minimal runners to help maintain that form.

I got this halfway through the 10 marathons in 10 days last year and thought I'd have to pull out. One of the organisers packed up the heel of the shoe with cardboard to stop the Achilles for over extending and I was able to finish the race. For the remaining 4 marathons, I bought a heel rise (like a silicone wedge that goes under the insert) and I was able to carry on.

I wouldn't recommend running with the injury, but under my circumstances, I had to carry on to complete the event but I would recommend buying a pair of them (you'll only need to use one on the affected foot) for when you are walking around / recovering, to stop the Achilles from extending.

But definitely seek medical advice for it.

Mod: Just a quick reminder medical advice is prohibited. There can be great overlap between symptoms and root cause of injury. Giving personal experience is fine but no diagnosing injury or treatment advice

You seem to be covering all the options with your footwear.

Find out what you should be wearing that is suitable for your feet and go from there. A low ramp shoe like the barefoot or Mirage can aggravate injury to the heel.

Eliminate that possibility first as you seem to be doing the right think re calf tightness & rolling. You can drop a fortune with a physio and get nowhere if the footwear is the cause of the inflammation in the first place.
