Premier for me too - at least for chips and chicken. For fish it has to be the place down on Kilmore Quay - their Monkfish special is amazing (albeit a little pricey).

Have to say it's quite hard to get a decent bag of chips in Wexford Town, premier probably the best of a bad lot - too many reheats going on in chippers for my liking

I always head over to Kilmore Quay to get a fish & chip in that place any time I'm down that direction, 20 mins out of the way but so worth it!

    wiki ans
Fried rissoles are common in the Republic of Ireland, especially in the county of Wexford, where boiled potatoes are mashed, mixed with herbs and spices, battered or breadcrumbed,

It's like a potatoe cake. Or like a seasoned bit of mashed potato battered or crumbed then fried. The Premiers are the best and they have the original receipie I'm told

Good man, And for your next post we'll have the name of the chipper. Or do you want to give us the street it was on first?

    County Wexford.

They haven't reheated burgers for ages - when was the last time you were there?

Nellys was the original but the Premier bought her receipie and it's been passed down through the family.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭Corvo

Burgers - Uncle Sams. They are cooked there and then. Premier has only recently started this practice. Before this they were reheated.

Chips - Premier, though they can be extremely greasy (not always a bad thing)

    Chicken - Premier

Cafolla is a good spot and are good all round I find

Couple of weeks ago though didnt get burger that time, they dissapear out back, the burgers were yak but that seems to have changed, they are cooking them fresh now right?

Be still nice if Wexford had a gbk, bebos and the likes for a good burger.

Last time I had a burger and taco fries from Uncle SAMs I was pissed but almost puked from the taste whatever they do to them! I hear some places parboil them or keep them in warm water?

It's an old building - they're probably not allowed to gut it to display their burger tossing skills! Ask the staff, they told me that the burgers are now done fresh when I asked why they taste better

Moving further out I have to give an honorable shout out to "King Cod" in gorey. Quality _fresh_ cod that I never had in any other chipped and top chips ... giving chippers out there a good name.

P.s. never had a burger there but when I do I will report back.:P

As in chips are cooked and left, then reheated to order

Epheus Kebab in John Street, New Ross. I've never been there sober but they do a Mega Box for about twelve euro, it contains all the food groups and a weeks worth of calories. Savage.

From what I recall, the place could do with a fresh coat of emulsion.

    No they aren't Premier style.

Just try a bag with a garlic dip though and I guarantee satisfaction. :)

    Mod Note.
This thread has gone from recommending chip shops in Wexford to a Science lesson from a poster who has now closed his/her account. So what i am going to do is to tidy up this thread and remove posts that don't contribute positively to the thread and i am also renaming the thread to include all of the county.

from this post on please stay on topic and no more tit for tat please.

Nearly all the talk is about chippers. :p I just want to say that I happened by accident to find myself in The Vine takeaway in Whitemill last Friday. Mrs Oldyouth wasn't that hungry so she ordered the chicken satay starter and I had the beef green curry. Absolute top notch and plenty of it. Not the cheapest but I would rather pay a bit extra for quality

Does the hot food counter in Dunnes count? After the early Munster game on Saturday I found myself there full of Guinness and not in the mood for cooking...the munchies are a strange thing but it wasn't bad. :D

Some sort of small square potato things and some sort of small stuffed chicken things - bad value but they filled the need. Where's the best place in town for chips?
