    Hi all,

Currently with Imagine for adsl broadband, receiving a solid connection of 10.5Mb download/.9Mb upload/Ping 30ms, although frequency get 10ms, on a 12Mb broadband plan. Is anyone here with UTV? If so, would greatly appreciate any comments on them, and what speeds and pings are like. Ping needs to be under 100ms, ideally less than 50ms.

I have searched through Boards and haven't found much positive things about them, though the same goes for Imagine and it never slows down.

    Thanks in advance

Ping is relative. You'd have to specify to where.

Please do not get UTV broadband their service is diabolical . I was with them for 2 years and it was the worst thing I ever did . They gave me an 8mb connection when I signed up and about 6 months into the contract the speeds where bumped to up to 24 mbs . I rang them up and asked would I recieve a speed increase they told me a flat no . Two months before my contract was up they rang and told me they could increase my line speed so I though grand I'll take this and switch over in 2 months . When I accepted the new line speeds they locked me into another contract and told me because I had accepted their speed increase they now had me contracted for another 12 months . It really annoyed me that they did this . Also THROTTLING , THROTTLING , THROTTLING ,THROTTLING . Thats all I ever got from my home broadband while I had their service .

I have been with UTV for about 8 or 9 years and have to say i am happy enough. I was, until recently on the 24mb package and was getting speeds of 10-15mb on wifi. I have recently moved to a 50mb fibre package with unlimited usage (plus evening and weekend local, national and uk calls). The line to my house is old so i am happy with the speeds i am getting, which have been 38-40mb down and 15mb up, the ping has been about 43 ( speedtest website).

On the whole this package suited my needs, i wanted to upgrade to unlimited as i noticed my usage was increasing a lot in the last few months, and the package i moved to worked out to be the same price (€40) as i had been paying for my old package as they have a special offer running at the moment. (I think their 24mb is about 38.50 now ? - i was on the old tarriff as my contract had run out)

I could have got similar packages with upc and sky for slightly cheaper for the first 3/6 months but decided i'd rather stay with a service provider i know, as i was worried i would switch and then be stuck in a year contract with a lousy service. Sometimes it's better the devil you know lol
