Options to replace Sky?

    Hi Guys

Just worked out my Sky bill for last year and came to a nice €708.19 for the year. This includes multi room and Sky sports. As you can guess that is down from what you would normally pay as I rang up a good few times and got reduced rates for having Sky Sports. Currently paying €55.50 a month for Sky with multi room and sports.

Anyway looking at options to replace sky and not just going to look at UPC. I was wondering is this the right place first?

So was looking at maybe Freesat? I am looking for standard channels and found the following: https://www.freesat.ie/pid-440-info.html

Question is can you available of anymore channels? is there other options available? really just looking for Universal and maybe Sky Living????

What options are available? I have sky satellite installed and running to both rooms.....need + option for wife to record.....:P

To cover off Sports I think I will go with XBMC player and buy one of the services available on it....going to try that out now

Those channels are only available via a Sky or UPC sub.

For the channels you are looking for (Sky Sports, Living, Univeral etc), your only options are pay TV - so Sky or UPC.

    Hi guys

Just reviewing and most of the stuff on Living is actually on RTE

SO guess just looking at Freesat and Saorview, apart from UK channels is there options to use European free to air channels?

This is a list of FTA channels available with a Sky dish and FTA satellite receiver - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_free-to-air_channels_at_28%C2%B0E

Lots of FTA channels available from satellites over Europe, you'll require a motorised dish connected to a FTA sat receiver - http://en.kingofsat.net/satellites.php

go freesat and saorview and keep your sky box with the bt/setanta sports back.

so if you could best option saorview tv
hdmi 1 freesat box humax pvr
hdmi 2 sky box with setanta pack, at the most €12.99 a month

so you keep your existing sky dish and upgarde to a quad lnb!
