Quick one, looking to reinstate my old bike as a winter bike. It's a Specialized Allez 16. It needs a new chainset. Just trying to remove the current 2300 chainset. I have removed the end caps and the end bolts either side but there is no budging the crank arms. Is there something I am missing or will they just take some persuasion? Thanks

Thanks Kav, thats exactly what I was missing out on, in fact I wasn't aware of the role of that particular tool at all.

I have the extraction tool photographed, but it has a round head that seems to be too big. Instead of pushing off the bb it won't get past the square hole in the crank. Hope I am explaining myself. Pic attached.

    Am I missing something? Thanks

No you're not missing anything, the end of that extraction tool has the attachment for ISIS cranks fitted (extraction tools are often sold as dual purpose for ISIS/square taper cranks), you should be able to unscrew that ball off the end of the bolt, it will then fit inside the square taper.
