    Hi all,

Can someone tell me what happens when the person calls to your home? Do they look around the house and in the bedrooms?

    Thanks

Some cwo's do make a point of looking into each bedroom to check if there is anyone else living there. Others don't bother. They'll just check to see if you're actually living at the stated address. It all depends on the individual cwo and what is common practice amongst his/her colleagues imho

I had a situation like this a few years ago - CWO called out, knocked at the door - I answered, she stepped inside out of the rain, ticked a couple of boxes, declined my offer of a cup of tea and left. Probably five minutes tops.

Yeah, same here. I've been visited by the CWO as well as Welfare unannounced a couple of times. Both times, it's been brief, and the only place they really looked in was the living room.

I got a full sweep from a CWO in Louth. She tried to look into my wardrobe, and asked me why there were men's tracksuit bottoms in my laundry basket. I asked her what made her think they were men's and she huffed a bit.

She checked my bathroom and shower for male toiletries as well before she left.

That is crazy. I remember a cwo doing something similar to my female housemate years ago, dunno why because she had already put down she was sharing with two lads but she still looked in the wardrobe. With me she just looked in the sitting room, seems they give the women a harder time.

Which seems silly. There's very little belonging to a man that I couldn't claim for myself, eg razor, shorts, tshirts, shaving foam, Lynx.

Thanks everybody, mixed bag really isn't it?

Would a twin room (with two single beds) be accepted as two single people in shared accommodation or does it have to be two separate bedrooms?

It all depends on what county or area of Dublin your in. If you tell us where you are we can tell you what to look for.
Are you on a housing list? Are you a couple or a lone parent? Are you getting a SW payment? Are you or your partner working more than 30 hours per week?
