Recommendations on Run flat tyres for my E90

    Hi,
I need to replace my 2 rear tyres, they are run flats 255/40/17. I've been quoted:

    Kumho - €190
    Continental - €240
    Potenza - €250

I'm currently using the Bridgestone Potenza's. Any recommendations on the above? Obviously a big price difference between the Kumho's and Potenza's?

Or is it a case, you get what you pay for?

Pretty wide tyres, what car is it?

Do you know the tyre type for the Kumho and Conti?

    It's a 2008 (E90) BMW 320D M-sport.

Not sure of the tyre type of the Kumho or Conti, I need to give the guy a shout back to get more details.......

Just looking at the potenzas on tyre reviews, they don't seem to be pleasing many :)

Kumhos would be a good mid range tyre, if they're Ecsta's, they're good and get good reviews as well.

I'll give the guy a ring and get more info on the Kumho's. Cheers.

Yes, the tyre available is Kumho Ecsta 31, which is the model on your link. The reviews are reasonably good I guess, considering €60 cheaper per corner that's a big difference between the two.....

I have a pair of kumhos on the back of my E61. I would rate them higher than the Potenzas they replaced. It's a bit subjective but I think they ride nicer and they definitely lasted longer.

Nearly two years ago I replaced my Bridgestone RFTs with Michelin PS3 non RFTs ,they are expensive however I think they are excellent in the wet and the car handles much better and doesn't crash over speed ramps anymore, tramlining is an awful feature of RFTs and this is eliminated now with standard tyres, only downside is carrying a compressor or spare tyre as there is no wheel well in the E90 for one!

Ditch the RFTs and get non RFT Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, that's what I put on my E90 when I had it and they were superb. RFTs are too hard and not worth the money in my experience.

I'm picking up a set of those for my summer tyres once the winters come off..

Came across this site, never used it before but prices seem ok.

Camskill highly recommended as well. Got my winters from them.

If you are insisting on run flats, Michelin pilot sports are brilliant tyre in terms of grip comfort and handling.
Bridgestones were an absolutely rubbish ride.
I've had kumhos as non run-flats and they were good value but not sure what they'd be like as run flats.
If I were you I would save a few hundred on non run flat Michelin or contis and with the money left over buy a space saver/jack or can of tyre weld.
