Help choosing a new car

    Hi,

    I know opinions on cars are very personal and there is so much pros and cons about different cars but i'm hoping for a little bit of feedback from people who may know more about cars than me and my husband.

    I currently drive an 08 Opel Astra 3 door sxi. We are expecting our first baby and so need to upgrade to a car with rear doors and a bigger boot.

    So we went shopping and narrowed it down to;

    A 2011 Opel Insignia, 58,000km which would cost us 12,000 with our own
    or
    A 2011 Renault Fluence, 44,000km, which would cost us 9,000 with our own.

    So I prefer the Insignia BUT for 3,000 less and a car a year younger is that a much better deal.

    I know there are other specifications that can affect price. Both models are not base model but not high tech spec either. I can give more details if needed.

    Just a general opinion would be great

    Thanks a million

    The Insignia is a larger car than the Fluence as it is from the class above. The Fluence competes with the likes of the Astra. Also something you should take into account that with an new baby/infant and all the stuff you will be carrying around with them, a hatchback is more practical than a saloon. If €3k extra is too much of a stretch for you then consider dropping back a year for a different Insignia or the likes.

    BTW for what it is worth, even not taking the above into account I would have an Insignia over a Fluence every time. Hate the sight of them.
