Egg on car paint....

Some little 'efffers' threw an egg at my house last nite and hit my car in the process.

I thought I heard something at the time, went out and had a look but didn't see anything in the dark.

I then only noticed this morning what had happened and that it was all over the side of my car too. :(

Immediately washed it all off, as best I could, it seemed to have froze on the car rather than stick thank god. I'm gonna get the car cleaned on Monday when I get a chance, and to see if there are any marks left on the paint.

There doesn't seem to be right now but the car isn't sparkly clean, which is when you'd notice it more I'd imagine.

What I was wondering was, if any you guys know of anything that mite clean up the affected area should it be bad, and could you's offer some products that might provide some protection in the event of this happening again?

Was more pee'd off about the car than the house

Claying the area might work or even using a polish and applicator pad might work too. What will definitely work is if you know someone with a polishing machine, get them to give it a go and it should come off. You may not have to go to this length but make damn sure you don't leave it in direct sunlight.

To prevent it sticking in future and so you can just wipe it off, use a good wax like Collinite 845 every so often.

Also, put some vinegar on a microfibre cloth and place it on the affected areas (don't wipe or scrub) - this will dissolve any tiny particles of eggshell wedged in the micro-cracks in the clearcoat caused by the impact of the egg.
The main thing with egg on paintwork is to wash it off with warm water as soon as possible.

I would have suggest NOT to use anything other than cold water as we all know what warm/hot water does to an egg white.

also bakes it on to the paint.

I would smother it with apc first then wash it off with cold water.

    COLD water!!!!!

Egg is a protein. Warm water cooks it and sticks it more.

Didn't your grandmother teach you anything when doing the washing up!!

To be fair,I've found the cooked egg binds to itself. Its easier to pull cooked egg off a pan than raw. All this talk off baking it into paint with warm water seems somewhat far fetched lads to be fair. In reality I can't see that happening.

    Experiment time.

Lads, I said warm water, not hot water - I don't know how many of you have ever cooked an egg with warm water, but I certainly haven't!
BTW, I was speaking from experience, as donkey's years ago I had a silver vectra that got egged, and it had baked on in the sun, and guess what? Cold water wouldn't work - I even pressure washed it (stupidly), but it still took warm water to soften it up and get it off without scrubbing.

However, doctors differ and patients die and all that......

All good advice so far. Also, do not use a Brillo pad. Especially if your car is non-stick.

Much appreciated guys, got the car washed today and there doesn't seem to be any marks, thank god!

The cold weather overnight must have prevented any real damage before it was noticed in the morning :)

I'm gonna get the car properly polished in the next couple of weeks when I have a few quid to spare just for my own peace of mind ;)

I'll prob have a look at this Collinite stuff too, because some of the neighbours were saying its been going on for a while now with them too.

(Live across from a park so the little sh*ts can just get away so easily.)

Doesn't look like they are particulalrly targeting the cars anyway, its seems its just the houses mainly. The effer with the bad aim hit my car....
