What's on the area you want to concrete- grass, gravel ??
At 4" or 100mm of concrete thick you'll need roughly 9m3 & concrete is roughly €70/m3. So €600/650 for the concrete + labour and filling if needed.

Could I recommend artificial grass....long lasting, no maintenance all weather, no dirt, looks far better and safer if kids have a fall...

Thanks it is a grass area and will have to be dug out. Would it cost much to put a small wall up around that . Say about 2ft high??

For blocks, sand, labour, foundation concrete your looking at roughly €500/600
Then extra if you want it plastered and capping for the top of the wall.
Digging it out ballpark €200/300 for a digger for the day
Then you've filling which will have to be compacted
Labour to pour the concrete another €100

You may have disposal of the dug out material if in an urban area which may require a skip or two. And then there's drainage to take into consideration.

Have got a number of quotes in at the moment. Ranging from 3k to 4850!!!! What do ye think of the lower one. Is it about right?? This is for digging it out. Laying and a 3ft wall around hald of the concrete with capping.

3k seems expensive and at the higher end of what it should cost. I'd suggest getting a few more quotes.

Ask for a detailed break down of the quotes to include material and labour costs of each stage.

    Excavation
    Filling
    Concrete
    Steel

    For the walls:
    Blocks
    Sand
    Cement
    Plaster
    Capping
