Update. The box has just finished recording the Late late show and the beginning and end are intact. This is the second recording with series link.:)

Sounds like it is behaving very well as regards series link.

Arrived from amazon today. Very happy so far. Can stream movies and music from my pc.
It is possible to reorder the list I just deleted unwanted channels and create a favourite list. And set that favourite as default. Series link similar to freesat. Works great. Epg more responsive than old white sky box.

By default rte 1 appears down the list but now back at top of list via favourite option.

Are you able to pad the recordings at each end?. My recording menu is greyed out?

No problem with padding or recording.I don't know why you would have a greyed out recording menu.Does a power cycle not cure it?Can you elaborate a little more.

Hi. I bought one of these as a result of reading this thread and am very happy with it. Far superior to any Triax. I'm just wondering how you set your favourites as default and reordered it. Thanks

My wife done it. Click list on remote then press green for edit to add each channel to say favourite 1.once done press guide. Then blue for group button and select favourite 1. It will always then default to this order. Then under settings* edit channels*edit favourite list you should be able to move channels to your preferred order. Let me know if it works.

Followed your instructions and it worked great. Thanks a lot and please thank your wife.

I had already made a favourites list (and called it Saorview) but didn't realise I could move the channels around to the order I wanted. Also to have the guide default to my favourites is great.

    Thanks again and happy viewing.

I have the PANASONIC dmr 230 1tb . I pick up the divis flats transmitter , so can get full freeview and saorview , IT works perfectly , series link ,no need to pad out the recordings, you can move and renumber the channels any way you want ,the only draw back on the Saorview side is that although it gives 7 day program guide it does not tell you what the program/film is about but thats not a deal breaker, it has netflix youtube etc but you cant record while using these, not a deal breaker for me.

All in all after reading the issues with the humax im glad i chose the panasonic
230, Richersounds have them at a good price

The flats were named after Divis mountain, & that is where you will find the transmitter.

I've no problem with someone justifying their purchase but there are no known issues with humax box you speak of. I also have to pad sky recordings and that still messes odd one up. Humax works 100% for me. A very small % of people on here can receive freeview.

Humax has full programme info similar to sky unlike your panasonic. Now and next for next 7 days works a treat.

Humax can reorder channels any way you want. Read the previous posts...

    Well said trabpc.

The Humax is a fine machine with no obvious faults.

Padding the recordings is to allow for early start or late finish times by the broadcasters, nothing to do with Humax. Happens often. :)

An auto 4 port HDMI switch is very cheap and comes with button on it and also a remote (never needed).

Or route everything through a Denon avrx3000 enjoying 7.1 sound on the blue ray and 5.1 on other selected stuff like I do :D

A further problem with this Humax receiver is that it won't allow you to reorder/renumber the channels the way you want or select Ireland or another country other than the UK which would automatically save the channels in the Saorview LCN order or simply from position 1 upwards as found.

Short sighted I believe on Humax's part considering they have a market next door which wouldn't really require them to seek Saorview approval if they would allow channel reordering or provide a country setting other than UK

Just a little FYI for the the more 'techie' or 'Geek' minded on the forum here. It is possible to change the country setting on the HDR Fox T2 and the HD Fox T2 (via the hidden service menu), but doing so prooves pointless. The channels are still ordered in exactly the same way, with the irish channels being pushed down to the 800s, even with the country set to Ireland. It does however disable series link, as I found out (the hard way), and had to restore it back to UK, or to be exact 'England' is the option in the country list.

Despite some of the little flaws, it's still the nearest thing we have to to Sky+ functionality, on a terrestrial PVR. On the non-broadcast side of things, I've been streaming content from my iTunes library to the HD Fox in the kitchen (via 'Homeplugs'), and it works really well most of the time. Though it's a bit of a mish-mash of different software and hardware vendors, and from time to time, it just won't play nice.

Thanks but that relates to the older box. With the current hdr 2000 box it is possible to re-order channels but the channels still start at 800. But i honestly cant see why people see this as an issue. I did not notice this for ages and would not have spotted this until someone pointed it out. All I notice is rte tv3 etc .The 800 etc I just honestly don't notice it.

tks, but I think I'm sorted. just realised tv can handle saorview (even though not on the approved list) so going to ditch my combo box and replace with a humax hdr freesat box for my satellite viewing.

That is a satellite only box which means it will pick up only UK channels and no Irish ones.

The "freetime" internet streaming feature will probably not work in Republic as most shows are blocked from Ireland

It requires two leads from a satellite dish:

the box you want is this one and yes it will pick up saorview and freeview hd.

humax make bothe versions, ie one for freesat on satellite and the other for freeview. its a bonus that they both work in ireland.

I think with the freeview hd version the irish channels are in the 800 range.

geoweb2k14 is in Kildare. Freeview will be no use there.

Also, they need to know that there are NO Freesat branded combi boxes. If they want Irish & UK channels in 1 box, in Kildare, they will need to look elsewhere.
