    Hi all.
I recently made a thread in H&F about me joining the gym in February and getting some Whey Protein.

I know me being very tall and thin means that it's all down to my diet (and hard work of course)
and as a total beginner/newbie on a very tight budget, I'd really appreciate if anybody could help me out with a diet for the week.

I know that I'm aiming to get a gram of protein in per pound and I will also be drinking 3-4l of full fat milk per day in addition to my meals + supplements.

There is absolutely nothing that I wouldn't eat (except brussel sprouts lol) so if any of you can help me finding the cheapest milk, cans of tuna, pasta etc. I would really appreciate any help what so ever!

Can't wait to get started :)

    Shop around in your locality.

Probably aldi and lidl for cans of stuff.

Cans of coconut milk will give you loads of calories. Mix in a few Thai spices and it makes most dishes pretty good.

There's a few posting on weekly shopping lists over in the strenght forum.

Oats. You can get a 1kg bag in Tesco for 93c, they keep for ages too.

You can get a good bit of veg in Aldi for next to nothing with their super 6 offers.

Nuts and seeds are a great way of getting in lots of 'healthy' calories, nuts tend to be expensive but you can get a 300g bag of sesame seeds in Aldi for ~€1.40. That sounds awfully boring for bulking but the great thing about these foods is they tend to be 5-600cal or more per 100g with a good whack of fibre and heaps of good fat.

Meat is expensive, there's no avoiding it for decent quality meat, best you can do here is look for offers in your local butcher.

You really don't need that much protein/calories and IMO drinking 3+ litres of milk is a bad idea and really won't teach you anything about eating properly. Add some Meridian peanut butter, add some extra milk, add extra fruit. You will be surprised how quick your calories increase.

In Tesco/Dunnes/Aldi you should be able to buy cheap frozen fruit. Blend a fist full of this with some milk, a scoop of Strawberry protein and a 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. You can also add in a a scoop of strawberry ice cream for variety.

Or if you are a coffee lover you can make a cold coffee/choc protein shake by using Choc whey, milk, banana, teaspoon of coffee and some drinking chocolate to sweeten it if desired.

Tesco's also have tins of mackerel in spicy sauce for 89 cent and it's pretty tasty.

Asian supermarkets are great value for big bags of rice.

^ This. There isn't a magic diet. Cut out the rubbish and eat a bit more of decent calories as outlined above and you're golden!
