Apologies if this is already covered in another thread, but dont visit this forum often.A long story short.
My dad got a new Fiesta last January with 2 standard keys. Went to get him a remote lock for Christmas with LockDoctor in Limerick. I asked could they do it, they said no problem as long as I brought in the car. Took it in a couple of times and they had to download a couple of codes etc.
Came to the Sat before Xmas and they said they needed one more code and they would call out before Xmas and finish it off. I paid them 180 as I was going away for Christmas and thought that would be the end of it.
To be fair, they called out, spent about an hour with the car and said they could not get it to work and would have to go through the dealer. LockD said they would cover any additional cost.
Dad went out to dealer today and said it could not be done.
Went into LockD this evening and ask for my money back and said, that the key they had been working on was no more use to them and while they sympathised with me, said there was not anything more they could do and that they would drop a note to Ford as they thought that a 2013 car should be able to be remote locked.

So I ended up paying 180 for a 3rd key which does not work remotely but does open the door manually.

Is there anything more I can do?

    Thanks for any feedback.

Nope. Its a €45 option even today.

    Bizzare.

No, which i thought was pretty poor for a new car. 2 bog standard keys.

whats even more bizarre is someone stumped up around what? 15k? to buy it and didn't go the extra €45 for a central locking key.

could you not just buy a central locking key from ford and get the dealer to code it in retro.

The car was not brand new, had a couple of thousand miles on it. Got the remote key from LockD and went to the dealer and they said it cannot be remote locked!!!

The car could have been bought ex stock rather than factory ordered, so it would have been down to the dealer to spec the car up properly.

Could also be ex rental. If you're ordering 100 cars, €45 a car makes a difference :)

This doesn't seem to be an option judging by the OP.

I had an 04 Focus years ago, had remote locking but one key went missing and was replaced with a standard one. To get around this I got a remote locking kit fitted and it just meant having a fob instead. Surely they could do this? It was very cheap to do at the time and much cheaper than the remote key from Ford.

Dealer is right it cant be fitted ive worked on hundreds of those fiestas and only seen a handfull without remote locking.

The car is just not equipped for it so hes stuck putting the key in the door im afraid.

Unbelievable that a 2013 car doesn't have remote central locking as standard. And some people here give out about the likes of Toyota being stingy with air conditioning.

Jesus I wouldn't have even thought it was an option to not have remote central locking. I took it for granted when I bought a new clio 14 years ago, never mind now.

Surely a poverty spec ex rental car. €45 well spent in my book I don't know how a private buyer would not get this.

must be a fleet car of some sort to have been bought secondhand under a year old.

Take care not to screw up the warranty
