Has anybody seen this yet? Gonna give it a go saturday night. They had the good sense to score the trailer with a Melanesian choir song from the Thin red line so it looks promising enough.

Have seen this trailer a number of times in the cinema already that I feel obliged to go and see it at this stage.

I thought the trailer looked very good yeah, but have not heard anything about it apart from that.

It's very good. Quite like 12 Years Of Slave oddly enough, both based on true (tragic) stories, both are quite simple stories. Both of their endings are great. 12 Years is better, but still an appealing film.

Never got around to seeing it but might give it a go this weekend. If its still playing, that is. I'd say with American Hustle, 12 years a slave and The Wolf of wallstreet on at the moment that The railway man hasnt been packing them in.

Yeah they're powerhouses. I haven't seen Wolf Of Wallstreet. But I would say 12 Years > Railway Man > American Hustle.

American Hustle was actually not that great in my opinion. Clearly got nominated because it has Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and that bloke from Hangover it, whilst still maintaining some actual quality.

Much better than I thought it would be. Quite gruesome for a 12 I thought.

This was a good film, edge of the seat stuff while telling a heavy story. Deals with dreadful themes without being melodramatic, the ending is dealt with in a manner which respects the characters and the audience.

My father in law in Edinburgh watched it a few weeks ago, he said it was really good. Looking forward to seeing it.
