Being living on an unusable satellite connection as I had no other alternatives but I have been told by Ripplecom that I may be able to get their service. Anyone on here that uses this can you let me know if its a reliable and decent speed.

I was with them a couple of years ago and they were awful(they were known as ice then). I've since returned and I have no complaints - they have all round improved their service with just a couple of occasions the service was down over the space of 9 months

Would you possibly be able to do a speed test and post the result?

tested with speedtest.net app on iPad 3.71 down 0.78 up 21ms ping
I normally get 4 - 9 download speeds, it's my best and only option besides 3G.

4.32 down, and 0.89 up. 31 ping. It's the best available here. It peaks about 5.25 down and 1.10 up when it's quieter.

I've just had a major outage (radio on the chimney got fried) but they've now replaced everything.

Been with them for year and a bit. Best speeds for me are 7Mbps d/l, ping ca. 30, 1.0 u/l. Typical evening speeds ca. 4 Mbps u/l

Had a couple of outages where lightening strike at their mast had them down for a day or 2 but all in all really good to deal with. :)

Woah the ping alone is enough to make me pray that I can actually get it when they come out to test

For this to work you'll need a direct line of site. Can you see the tower they're transmitting from and are there any obstructions in the way like trees?

    132 a month:eek:

Anyone else experiencing problems with Ripplecom in Newcastle West area. No service for past two weeks. Customer service non existent. Similar issue two months ago and only resolved after they admitted to changing network settings. Are permanet a better option in this area.

Hi, I have had Ripplecom since 2007, they were called last mile at first and Ripplecom bought them a few years back, I pay for 8mb down and 1 mb up and get about 6mb down and 1mb up. The service can be hit and mis sometimes, I have their BB and phone package at 54.99 a month and find it to be good, considering I have no other options beggars can’t be choosers. Hopefully the ESB scheme announced will deliver them real competition and they increase the speeds to something 40 or 50 down.

Since I flagged this issue here this morning Ripplecom have been pulling out the stops to fix my problem. Will now send replacement parts and an engineer to my house next Tuesday. Nice to get the response. No way to run a business, responding to public complaints. No alternative where I live and they know it.

They know they have you by the B---s and take advantage of it, if you have a problem on the weekend you will get no help as they have all gone home
