Does anyone know anything about the original bridge that crossed the Bandon River near Kinsale? You can still see the end sections but the original bridge was demolished at some point in the 1970's I think. I have scoured the internet and and cannot find any pictures which is surprising as it must have been an impressive structure as it would have spanned 1,500 metres.

The only thing I can find is an old print of the bridge design from late 1800's.

You can still see both ends today and there is an old ship wreck on the North side - see http://goo.gl/maps/09lgR

Anyone remember this bridge and do you have any photos? When was is demolished?

PS: My interest is purely out of curiosity.

Google Images throws up a few if you type in 'Kinsale Bridge' though I'm not local enough to know if they are the ones you're looking for.

I even went through the nli.ie photp archive and nothing there that I can find.

I found this online. It doesn't give a great view of it unfortunately.

That's it. Well done finding this shot. It was nearly a mile long.
