What are the downsides to wearing sport-bras everyday?

    ..........even for non-sporty activities.

I'm finding myself doing this more and more mainly because of comfort and has now become a habit.
They are very good quality and I don't mind splashing out on them
For the days I work, I will exercise straight after so it is handy to have a sports bra on waiting and ready.

My friend told me this is a big no-no. Bad for my boobs.

I do wear proper bras when I go out/events.

Is wearing sports bras daily like this bad for my breasts?

    Thanks

    Simone

I can't see why this would be bad? The sports bras I use are very supportive. What would the possible consequences be? No idea.

A good supportive sports bra, properly fitted, can be a good option for women with larger boobs because they give a neater silhouette. I wear sports bras everyday and dressier bras for going out.

I think the whole thing about bras that wearing them all the time might encourage in the ligaments in the breast to weaken, leading to sagging but then again I think that depends on your breast size too, as bigger breasts need more support. Sports bra stop the ligaments being stretched by keeping your breasts compact and preventing movement, so they don't get damaged when doing high impact sports. I think maybe would a sports bra not put pressure on your breasts if you wore them for a lot of the day, as they are supposed to keep them compact and prevent movement. Saying that I bought a them in Debenhams the other day (sale FTW) because I do martial arts and although my chest is small I like the comfort of knowing they are not moving about! I wear non-wired bras during the day as well (can't wear underwire for whatever the reason) and I wwonder is underwire better as it gives more support.

The whole point of sports bras is for there to be no down sides :D

Agree with precious flower here.....for sports great but daily leads to sagging....... Like everything else all good in moderation.

    I'd say it's completely fine.

According to a considerable study (15 years, 330 women) done on the effects of bra versus non-bra usage, bras actually have the opposite effect than we think they do. Unsupported breasts are perkier in the long term (although they may not appear so because, obviously, they are unsupported).

I'd say do what you like.

I'm a large breasted woman (normally take a size 40-42D) and I find it impossible to shop for bras on a budget so I wear these lovely cheap and cheerful bras from Penneys that are of a similar cut and shape to sports bras but have no seams or padding. They are'nt extremely supportive but they keep things in place fine enough. I'd highly recommend them as they're grand for everyday wear and don't cost the Earth.
They're very similar in style to this:

Oh yeah, I'm a recent convert to that style of bra too - so incredibly comfortable and they are supportive enough for everyday wear even if you normally wear a big cup size.

I got a good few nice ones from TK Maxx in carrickmines; 2 for 9.99
