What's your most 'fun' bike at the moment?

This just occurred to me as I was dossing my way along the canal this afternoon.

I adore my roadbike (when it's not in bicycle hospital) and get great use out of my commuter but the bike I currently have the most enjoyment on is my beater.

The roadbike has given me the satisfaction of completing hundred k + cycles and hitting speeds of nearly 60kph on descents (Yes I'm a chicken), and the commuter has given me great enjoyment in both plodding around and mutating it into it's current pretend tourer form, not to mention the smugness of cycling back from IKEA with panniers drooping while the hoi polloi waste away in their steel coffins.

But for now, I'm having the most fun on my big steel farmgate of a single speed MTB which seems so assured in every pedal stroke, and lets me climb all over it like a monkey without worry...I'm even trying to figure out trackstanding on it. It really is making getting around the city tremendous fun.

So gien the number of interesting bikes many boardsies have, including 7 types of roadbike, 3 tourers, 8 Trackbikes and 2 MTBs (and that's just Beasty) I was wondering what is giving the most love for everyone here in this fine weather?

My girlfriends Vitus single speed 29er. I usually rob it to bring bottles to the bottle bank or for spins around town/the park after she's left for work.

I love my road bikes (But loathe my Roadster hack) but the chunkyness, pot-hole-what-pothole and dont-give-a-sh*t of the Vitus is a hell of a lot of fun.

my MB Dronfield(Vernon Barker) 531ST, its used for commuting and leisure rides. I keep it in smooth working order which isnt difficult being a fixed gear bike. Ive had it 4 years and cycled thru snow/iced up roads with studded tyres on it, down Donegal mountains and across Wicklow/Kildare. its built with extra thick Reynolds 531 for loaded touring which makes it a very strong frame (crashed a few times with zero damage! to the bike..), but still comfortable to ride. the paint isnt great but it adds character. takes up to 35mm tyres with brakes, I take the brakes off to fit studded snow tyres but its not a problem as I can stop very quickly and my speed is lower in that weather. I should have left the cantilever lugs on it when I originally bought it for a 'fixie', wanted it to look more sporty!

I did build up a very fun bike to ride a while back but sold it, had 1 test ride and it was beautiful, felt like a rolls royce on 2 wheels. had 635c wheels and a very long wheelbase NzA3NGU4ODhiMzEzN2MzN2YzNWIxNWViNmI3YWU5OTBNFOxgHMTvkmhxDplPrSGZaHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmFkc2ltZy5jb20vNWY1YzFmMDY3YTU2OWFmZjQzOGU3ZTEyYzc0Nzg5YjA0Y2VmOTZlZjhiZTdlYTk1MmRmNWZkYmUwZTgwYmNkMy5qcGd8MzkzfHx8fHx8aHR0cDovL3d3dy5hZHZlcnRzLmllL3N0YXRpYy9pL3dhdGVybWFyay5wbmd8fGh0dHA6Ly93d3cuYWR2ZXJ0cy5pZS9zdGF0aWMvaS9ub25lLWltYWdlLmpwZ3w=.jpg

    that seems like a bargain!

I will eventually get a bike I can ride on the beach with fat tyres, also to go down sand dunes! sand and salit water wouldnt be a problem with the build I have in mind

It was €100 more when she got it about 18 months ago. It's a steal for what it is.
