How do you charge your battery? I was out playing with some guys today who claimed you should let your battery completely drain before charging again, apparently this will make the battery last longer..but according to the instruction with the battery i have it says charge immedietly after use regardless how many holes you played. So whats the correct charging method to get the most out of your battery. Run it right down to zero and charge to full capacity each time or its used or just top it up after every single round or few holes?

The MotoCaddy do not have a lithium battery so they should be left on charge continuously unless required for use.

The lithium battery model trolleys should be as you describe.

Charge it straight away after playing. Once fully charged plug out until you need it again. I've left my battery up to 6 weeks and it's worked no problem
I've the same motocaddy battery 2 and half years and it's still going perfect. For the record I play approx 80-90 rounds per year

Never let the charge run down fully, this is what motocaddy say not to do. I followed their instructions precisely and never had an issue

Standard MotoCaddy batteries are not lithium.
    They are these ones.

You can purchase lithium ones for them.

Motocaddy do have their own lithium batteries. I purchased one before Xmas and I am delighted with it. Very handy to fold the trolley with battery in place, you can't do this with the lite power ones. Motocaddy are only the agent for lite power in Uk.

The Motocaddy battery is cheaper than the Litepower and fits the tray better. also as stated above trolley can be folded with battery in place which is a bonus

I am not disagreeing with you. I am referring to standard purchase MC's as the OP did not state which they had.
I was just pointing out the two different charge methods for each battery type.

The motocaddy policy is to charge both the standard lead acid battery and lithium battery after each use, regardless of number of holes played.

I have a golf glider (not sure whet type battery is in it) but I put it on charge after every round. Sometimes it could be plugged in for weeks between use! Still does full 18 holes on any course 3 years later - and it was secondhand when I bought it!!

All I know is that all lithium batteries if frequently topped up without being fully discharged will lose their capacity of withholding a full charge.
This goes for mobile phones, cordless tools/equipment, golf buggies, etc.

Standard non-lithium batteries are best topped up regardless of use & therefore best left on charge until next required for use.

All my power tools across the board also require this. My local power tool repair shop tell me this also.

Fully discharging a lithium battery is not recommended and actually damages the battery. You should never do this. Don't know where you read you need to fully discharge lithium batteries!

Going back on old thread. Question for owners of 36 hole batteries , if you constantly only play 18 holes does it impact on the performance of the 36 hole batteries?

Also suppose you play 18 holes on a Saturday morning and you're playing again the Sunday morning, can you leave the battery or must it be charged?
