Handbrake won't stay up

    Hiya,

I have a 2006 Nissan Almera hatchback and the handbrake won't stay up. When I pull it up it keeps slipping out of the clicky part :o (ok, I'm useless with cars). Can I buy the clicky part separate or must I buy the whole handbrake?

    Thanks :)

It's probably just the locking mechanism inside (broken or disconnected).
You can attempt to take the cover off and inspect it.

Had a look at it and the part that it clicks into looks to be worn away...can i buy that part or the whole handbrake mechanism?

It's quite possible just the part can be bought.
I don't know what the part number would be so you can take it to a dealer and see what they say. If they can give you the part number you can source it yourself and DIY it or get an indy. They can also give you a quote, it might not be very expensive.
