Hi, just want to get peoples advice who are in the know more than me. I have limited car knowledge apart from driving one!

Was looking to get a Golf type hatchback car but have decided against them and decided to go with either Kia Ceed/Proceed or Hyundai i30, a 2008 or newer car.

Can anyone give me their thoughts on it? About what car might be better- economically, drive better, less likely to be problems, insurance etc…

    Thanks in advance

They are both the same car underneath the slightly different styling as Hyundai and Kia are sister companies. Looks are a personal preference but Hyundai would probably shade it on packaging and resale value.

Hyundai has better brand recognition in Ireland so better resale but i prefer the Cee'd. Engine/Chassis are identical but the kit inside will differ.

    I have the 2008 Kia Pro'ceed - 1.4 Petrol 110bhp

Mine has the leather pack and alloys as standard - mileage is roughly 40 miles to the gallen as only home from Donegal and 440 miles done and more in the tank still

Both are the same mechanically and chassis wise as has already been said, and both are reliable as each other. It really all comes down to personal preference.

    Hi OP,
Did you make a purchase in the end?
If so, what did you go for, and how is it working out for you?

    I'm currently looking at a 2008 Hyundai i30 Deluxe - 1.4 Petrol.
What I found online seems to be mostly positive, apart from a few Top Gear type comments around handling in tight bends and the likes.

I'm happy with the appearance, just want it to be reliable and have enough power for the odd trip on motorways around the country and maybe on the continent.

Currently driving '04 Peugeot 206, and find it struggles when anywhere near 120KM limit on motorways.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    DD
