Drive Shaft replacement Mazda 6

Bought a bangernomics Mazda 6 from a KIA dealer 8days ago and it started to make a clunking noise when taking off from standstill a day after. Took it to my friend who put it on a lift and said the drive shaft bearing is fecked.
From googling it seems you need to buy the whole half drive shaft as the bearing is not sold on its own or is too difficult to change.
When i bought the car the dealer said there was no warranty as it was cheap and sold as seen. Now i know under the Sales of goods and services act im technically covered but would rather not have the hassle.
So im asking, how much would a mechanic generally charge to swap out half a drive shaft, whats involved, and would it seem acceptable to ask the dealer would he fit the part if i pay for it??

The dealer still has certain obligations, they can't just fob you off with "nah, no warranty". The question is whether that problem will fall under the sales of goods (probably not).
Try a few local lads for quotes or maybe your friend can do it, it's a DIY but only for hardcore DIYers :)

    It's a 03 1.8 clogher.

If you have a pre facelift Mazda 6 I'd be interested in one or two trim pieces though!
