I am putting a window on an old bedroom door to let in more light.

The door is just a shell really with 3cmx4cm frame and a block in the middle to give a bit of strength and for the lock.

it hada honeycomb cardboard paper interior just tacked on with a few staples and a bit of woodglue. all covered up by a full length panel of paper thin mahogany lookalike wood.

Anyway Im making a frame to fit a window for the top half.

But on the bottom half can I put fibreglass rockwool. (I know I can but is it a good insulation for the door)

just after thinking there of cutting up a lagging jacket to fit??

What do you think, anybody with any better ideas? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't see any advantages in it but rock wool would work fine.

What are you trying to achieve with the insulation?
Insulation like that wont make any difference to sound or heat in that scenario IMO.

The door wont be even near airtight and you are adding a window anyway...

As greedo said its a waste of time on an internal door and if you remove that cardboard honeycomb interior you've just destroyed all structural strength of the panel and the first time you accidentally tap the door with foot of knee or knock something against it you'll punch a big hole through the thin ply panel.
