Now we are using Ericom's modem and telephone line
( Actually, havn't signal for more than a month, it was ignored by us automatically cos the exams, now Im in my friend's house) :o

Wanna change to UPC to stop all the pains which can't linking free world, good decision?

    1. plan to buy 52euro per month offer which they declared Unlimited usage. But some friends told me actually they do have limitation--500GB per month for download, is that true? By the way, 5 person in the house will use boardband:P

    2. I figure the reason we cant use is the broken ADSL ( telephone line) of Eircom .
Will UPC fix for us or we should ask Eircom to repare? Really wanna change the frequently broke down telephone line and get brand new special offer package. But money issue also need to be considered

Want to know both answers to lead us get through the boring Xmas and new year.Thank you guys~:)

UPC don't use the DSL line, they use TV cable. There is no limit, the 500GB cap was removed last year or maybe the year before.

It seems to be really hit or miss. I'm on the 200mb service and I really couldn't be happier with it. Here is a speed test I just ran with it:

However if you look at the speed & ping test thread at the top of this forum you'll see people on similar packages from UPC getting as low as 2Mbps download speed which is terrible. Maybe if you let us know where abouts in the country you are you might be able to find out how people in your area are getting on with it.

In relation to the telephone line: If the fault is not your fault and is because of a tree outside etx. you cannot be charged. But if it was your fault, or something from the telephone socket causing the problem (eg a monitored alarm), you would have to pay a call out charge. I would suggeta you query this with eircom.

UPC use cable, not a landline as Colm mentioned above. They are completely separate to Eircom. The speeds however are generally much better statistically than Eircom's. You may not be able to get UPC ao check this first.
