Woeful racing the last few days and tomorrow's the same. Took a chance on Mataajir tomorrow in the last at Southwell at 7/1. He is hard to win with but has come right down the ratings and has caught the eye in the last few weeks. Has been backed a couple of times and this is a woeful race, off a mark of 49 his last win came around here in March off 52 when he won by 5 lengths and was runner up next time off a mark of 60.

The favourite General Tufto is opposable despite winning narrowly with the pair clear last time, he is effectively 9lbs higher and he hadn't won in two years prior and is under top weight, Tijuca has never ran on fibresand and was only rated 40 before she got placed in a maiden a few runs back. Bladewood Girl could run well but only has a strike rate of 1 out of 16. Huzzah is well handicapped but was beaten 9 lengths when third last time out off a mark of 45 and has only won three times in 66 starts.
The Tryoster has his first start in handicaps and could be the danger after running over too short here last time in a woeful maiden but if Mataajir can't win against this lot I'd be surprised if he did again.

One that catches the eye tomorrow is Le Reve in the 13:50 Leichester at 6-1 as a value bet. Has been competing in better contests to this Grade 1 .Also was rated slightly higher on hurdles than Edmund Keane. Le Reve also has more chase experience. Not a certainty by any means but I feel this is best horse in race, ability wise so 6-1 good value. I think I would like to see some money for the horse before backing it. As they
might be aiming at targets further down
    the line.

Lads after studying this more deeply think Edmund Kean will be hard bet. He will thrive on the ground being by old vic and is well treated. Id draw a line through his last run due to the good ground.

I like Repetition in the 2.10 16-1 ew. Not over raced, and not disgraced on last two outings.

Funny ride, on the rail, then goes out last, then goes wide and goes by all but three.
Must have covered more ground that anyone lol

I said I wasn't going to back the horse after last time, but this race is so awful and I can't be having the favourite as Mataajir beat it last time off closer to level weights.

Let's hope for a winner folks.

The favourite General Tufto finished 2.75 lengths behind Mataajir over this c&d on the 10th of December in receipt of six pounds, General now has to give the gelding seven. Swing of 13lbs

Going to get on board with this one too.
It looks a very open race. 11/2 with Paddy power now.

Very surprIsed if it won, other horse had at least won before. And your hoping it takes to the surface. But you never know I could be wrong. These gambles in class 6 races usually result in an improved performance.

Mattajir has been gambled a lot recently, looked woeful the last day but maybe a return to Southwell might revive him. Wouldn't back that horse myself but good luck!

Got a tip for jawaab in 1.00 Southwell 11/4

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 46 davesmith7

Going Wrong might be a speculative bet in the 13:15 e/w 11-1. Maybe Skelton might be able to revive this one. Won't play myself as I'm looking for more certainty this year in bets.

    .

Horrible races too right. Claimer nets off 2lbs from last run so 7lbs higher horse won off 69 couple yr's back and has done most of his winning here with 2 pulling clear lto so hes a worthy fav IMO but I'm not having a bet in it.

That is just legendary, the minute i read it i went onto befair and had 4 points win at 7.4..... There is a lesson for some of us here in that proper analysis and work pays off.. The ruling out of the rest of the field helped a lot..

Well done, one of the best worked out winners on here..

    Take a bow..:D

Young amature Freddy Mitchell travels from Epsom [his base] to Doncaster for one ride.Nesterenko 12.40 and then back on road to ride one at Kempton 7.10 Foxhaven. That is some mileage in one day for tomorrow.

Thanks for the write up Urban - if it wasn't for you doing that, I wouldn't have even looked at the race. With hindsight, that was the kind of dismal race was just what the horse was looking for.
