What's your biggest self indulgent luxury?

I was thinking about this in the shower the other day.

I use a ridiculously expensive Chanel coco mademoiselle shower gel. I love it. It's without doubt my biggest disgraceful waste of money. I get presents of the matching perfume at Christmas and at my birthday and I wear them all the time. The shower gel though lasts me months, the last bottle of it I got as a pressie from my work friends in July and I've still only used half of it. I don't use it all the time, just when I'm going out to make myself smell extra delish. At €37 a bottle it's definitely a totally self indulgently luxury.

What's your biggest treat to yourself that you really could do without?

I select potatoes on the Tesco self service machine when weighing grapes.

    Oh wait, that's theft.

    Taking out loans with Wonga.com.

Interest is expensive but hey, I'm worth it say the shampoo ads.

I don't have one big self indulgent item to be honest, but I do try to treat myself to one thing out of the ordinary every week no matter how tight money is that week.

Lounge access at dublin airport. Not needed but I do love it. Perfect way to start a trip.

I still use real toilet paper instead of news paper

Spending a bit more in free range eggs, fresh milk, not own brand yoghurts, bread from a bakery and stuff. Also if I buy wine, I spend a bit of money (by Spanish standards) on it as I don't think there's any point in drinking **** wine. Most stuff is the same whether you buy cheap or not but some things aren't, so I splash out on those.

I also spend money on yoga classes but it's money well spent imo.

I love really good cosmetics and make up so spend wayyyy over the odds on lotions and potions but I'm worth it and they make me feel good. :D

And good food and wine, I'm a sucker for going into specialist or artisan food shops and buying the best of grub and bubbly but again, I'm worth it and I think it's good to be self indulgent - why ever not?

Don't really have one at the moment (must work on that) but when I'm feeling blue or want to treat myself I have a go-to dish.

I mix peanut butter with a mashed banana in the bottom of a bowl, layer on greek yogurt mixed with cinnamon and then I top the thing with fruity granola.

It may not be lobster or caviar but I feel like a millionaire eating it anyway.

I'm booking a holiday away for 2 nights in some hotel and I'm going there all by myself. I've had a difficult year and I just need a break from everything. I have a bit of money saved up so I thought "why not". I can't wait.

    I'm not greedy.

As long as I have my solid gold house, rocket car and millions of dollars, I'm happy.

Buying one quality beer (German, Belgium or Craft) to have before washing down with something that has the words "Premium" or a Shirtless man on it :(

    Meat.

I buy good meat because I'm eating it every day for dinner. No point sitting down to a meal you're not looking forward to.

Once a year, I'll buy myself a new guitar pedal. They can cost anywhere from €30 to €300.

Buying a PS4 and new phone in the space of 2 weeks. Would have to be the most I've spent on myself in one go.

€15 on 100ml of gel every few weeks. Tbf cheap gel is scrap not worth buying

I don't drink a lot (maybe a pint a week if you average it out ) but when I do I only drink Galway Hooker which can be expensive to buy.

    Decent single malt whiskey.

For when everybody is in bed and daddy (that's me) gets to enjoy some peace and quiet and watch a good movie and the dog is allowed on the couch.

    oh the little pleasures.

Gosh I'm not really sure I buy anything that's too mad. I guess I like to buy the missus clothes and so wouldn't think too much of buying her a pair of boots for €200 or a top for €100. For myself I guess I consider buying breakfast/lunch each day in a cafe/shop quite wasteful. I bought a cream cheese and bacon bagel today for €4.10 when for a little bit more I could have bought the ingredients to make one a day for the next 5 days. I always want to make my lunches but tend to be a little lazy and unorganised.

we had a reusable voucher for 50% off if you spent 50 euro or more. So for the past few months whenever we got Domino's we ended up buying waaay too much to get the 50% off.

    Sadly it's now expired :(

I pay to upgrade myself to "economy plus" or equivalent when flying for business. I do lots of long haul flights and the few inches of extra space are worth it :)

I always stay in four-star upwards hotels, even though I only use them for the three S's. Never had a drink, bite, or spa treatment in one yet.

I'm not good at consumerism. Soap is soap to me, it's pretty much the same concoction across the board and I don't see why one soap would be any more expensive than another one. I buy luxuary shaving stuff from shaving.ie but the fact is all that stuff is cheaper than the crap you'll find in the supermarkets.

I do try to go for quality though. I'd rather buy one really good product that lasts for years rather than 4 or 5 cheap versions.

Medical insurance - pretty expensive and maybe not necessary.

One other thing I tend to spare no expense on is pints

Decent Whiskey, Craft Beer and the wife's lingerie collection... (though I get to pass the last one off as spoiling her ;))

Another upgrade hog here, whatever it is, hotel, flights (really pays off for long haul to get some extra leg room and a few more inches padding on the seat!), car rental.

A few Yorkie bars, haven't really a sweet tooth but like a bit of choclate during the week.

I'm always on the lookout for an outfit that looks good.I didn't really need a vest made from real gorilla chest. Or a sweater made from Irish Setter, or a cat hat, or the african endangered rhino slippers, or underwear made from grizzly bear. Maybe the 2 breast red robin suit was a luxery given that I had a single breast. The goafer loafers and greyhound fur tuxedo were defintitely luxeries.

Aside from the babies nappies the only thing we don't get in aldi are lyons teabags and shampoo #yolo #partyhard

Throw on some classical music on the sound system, get bollock naked, glass of brandy in one hand, cigar in the other- heaven! :D

A bottle of Hennessy XO, costs about €125, and a pack of 3 Cohiba Esplendidos, costs about €120, they go perfectly together, just a nice treat for myself every so often.

I also spend far too much on tech toys and gadgets, recently acquired this one through my brother who's a toy collector -
