Can't login to wordpress

Can any people who are more tech savvy than me offer suggestions on what the story is with my website? I registered a domain name using hostingireland and then used hostgator to host my website. I've apparently successfully installed wordpress on my website, but when I go to log in to admin, all that comes up is the "parking page". Is this only a temporary thing?

The DNS might not be setup yet, try go to the link directly and see if you get the login screen:

    http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/

Unfortunately I still get the "parking page". The step I took to attempt fix my problem is removing the "name servers" that were listed in my hostingireland control panel, and replaced them with the name servers listed on hostgator. But still, nothing

That should do the trick, just give it some time. Is it a .IE or .COM?

so you go to your site named www.thesite.com and type in www.thesite.com/wp-admin/ and a holding page comes up?

is the holding page different to the homepage?

are you sure it is not a "404 page not found" page?

also if you use those automated installers you usually get a confirmation email giving you the location of the login screen.

it is a fairly simple way to secure your wordpress site from bots you put the wordpress files in a sub-menu and placethe index.php in the place you want the wordpress installation to appear to be. open the index.php file and see where the wordpress stuff is installed to

I'm creating a website for the sole purpose of using it as a blog. When I type mysite.net in the address bar a page comes up saying

"mysite.net has been registered with HostingIreland.ie. Irish Hosting and Irish Domain Registration for .ie, .eu, .com, .net, .org, .co.uk and other domain names."

This exact page also comes up when I try and load up the admin page. The login page was simply mysite.net/wp-admin

Do you want to pm me an address and I'll take a look and see what the issue might be (hopefully!)

alright so. Nothing is appearing. can you log into the hosting control panel?
is it possible that there is a holding page called mysite.net/index.html in the main folder and it is being displayed instead of wordpress's index.php?

you need to contact the hosting company to see whats going on.
if it is a very recent purchase i.e. you paid for it today it might just be domain name servers might not be updated yet but if it is over 24 hrs there is a problem definitely log a helpdesk request

Cheers. I'll see what's happening after 24 hours (only purchased today).

more than likely wordpress is in a different directory and whats coming up is the standard index page. You need to go back to when you installed wordpress and check if you installed it into a directory called /wordpress/ or something similar. then it would be yoursite.net/wordpress/wp-admin
