Well it is 2014 so time for this years edition of the this thread. Just list what games you beaten this year and update it as the year goes by.

    The 2012 thread is here.

    The 2013 thread is here.

I had a decent year last year, completing 26 games. I'll get the ball rolling for this year:

Guacamelee [PS VITA] - Terrific game. The game is so well designed and the controls are just perfect. Just as well because some of the platforming challenges are very tough. I'm only about three trophies shy of the platinum trophy but I don't really have the time for a second playthrough.

Resogun - Rookie level completed, now on to the much more difficult normal mode!
fantastic game, however eyes start to hurt after about 25 minutes of gameplay!

    Brothers - A tale....

Finished it in one sitting, loved it so much I started it's own thread.

Might try and finish Walking dead next as I've had it for 6 months but it bores the crap out me. At the train over the bridge part.

    rage and the scorchers dlc

kinda meh, moments of inspired brilliance but overall far too easy and far too dull

ill probably go back to it in the future with a rebalance mod or something

Metal Gear Solid 4 (just got a PS3, so this will be the year of working through the exclusives)

    Zelda: Link Between Worlds

Hopefully starting the Uncharted series soon if I get a quiet evening

Stick with it. I thought the last couple of episodes were in a different league.

Great way to keep track of what I've played. Woudn't have a clue otherwise.

    This year so far:

    PS3

GTA V (mostly played in 2013)
    Rain

i was always kinda curious about the walking dead but I dodnt like those sort of games so I figured i was just **** out of luck. then randomly therre was a hot asian chick streaming the entire first season on twitch so got to look at them. they're pretty good, if you can deal with the adventure game shenanigans.

Yeah, I tried the demo ages ago and didn't like it but when the awards kept flooding in and the first season was a tenner on PSN I picked it up.
It is slow at times and the gameplay is fairly mediocre but it's heavily character driven and the story really comes into its own in the last couple of episodes. I didn't really see what all the fuss was about until I'd finished it.

Got a PS3 to play the exclusives I never got to on 360.

    Completed GTA5
Completed Uncharted 1 (completely average game)
Playing Uncharted 2 / The Last of Us

The Stanley Parable, doesn't really count though.

    nah, it completed you!

Completed Brothers (Amazing game - thanks Rasta for starting the thread!)
and Rain (not as good as Brothers but I really liked it)

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag ps4 - The ending was immense, helped by the fact I love that song "The Parting Glass" even if she did butcher it.

Its the character development. There really isnt much of a game there though. I enjoyed it for what it was.

I'm adding to my list for 2014.

    Guacamelee [PS VITA]

    Adding:

The Last of US [PS3] - The game is an amazing technical achievement, is wonderfully written and contains characters that you really do begin to care about. Unfortunately, the part where you actually play the game is the weak link.

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds [3DS] - I summed up my thoughts over in the main thread but to sum up I loved it despite it being too easy.

Finished Skyrim main mission today, had the game borrowed off someone so feel I need to give it back so I can borrow The Last Of Us off him :D
Downloaded Brothers today so might try knock that out over the next few weeks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,116 ✭✭✭✭RasTa

Finally finished Portal, although only started it last week.

Very close to getting sick on level 17

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,381 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Finally got round to finishing Dead Island: Riptide. Same as the first one, which i enjoyed, so i enjoyed this too. That ending though...

And i'm after purchasing DayZ Standalone. I think i won't be completing many games this year...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 678 ✭✭✭kevovek

Finished Tomb Raider, while the story was pretty good the gameplay didn't grab me enough to make me want to seek and explore all the hidden tombs. Still enjoyed it all the same.

Finished Saints Row 4 thoroughly enjoyed its stupidity and then the truly terrible Homefront, which was also full of entertaining stupidity albeit unintentional.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,346 ✭✭✭Lamposts

    Xbox one:

Peggle 2 - Amazing game. Better than the first.

Ryse - Great graphics but very basic combat. Worth a rent.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

    Bioshock Infinite (pc)
Sleeping Dogs - Nightmare in North Point (i think) (pc)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭astonaidan

Just finished Brothers(Tale of two Brothers) first game in a while Id recommend 100% to everyone. Great little game and taught me a valuable lesson
Trying to get the ride always leads to trouble ;)

Finished A Link Between Worlds last night. Could very well be the best game I play all year...all downhill from here :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭ZeroBarry

Knack, Contrast, Resogun, Battlefield 4, Broken Sword 5 (PC), The Emerald Maiden: Symphony of Dreams Collectors Edition (PC) and Hitman: Absolution. So I'm off to a good start.

I'll be picking up on Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition at the end of this month but I have to try and finish Killzone Shadowfall and probably another game before then

finished both story dlcs for dishonored. the knife of dunwall and the brigamore witches. dunwall was the better of the two although could maybe have done with just one more level. brigamore was pretty fun I guess although I got kinda bored towards the end

definitely worthy additions to an already excellent game

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,447 ✭✭✭richymcdermott

Just bet Bioshock infinite , as a big fan of the series i didnt like the combat this time around but it was saved by the great story. I wrote some of the plots in my notepad to see if i was right about the story and could not believe i was about 97% right one or two things near the end caught me off guard but it was easy then to slip things into place.

    9/10

I beat Professor Layton and Pandora's Box. Good game. Now I feel like I need to pick up the third game.

I'm adding to my list for 2014.

    Guacamelee [PS VITA]
    The Last of Us [PS3]
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds [3DS]

    Adding:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag [PS4] - a really excellent game. I really enjoyed ACIII last year but this is the better game. And playing on the PS4 is so good because an AC game has never run this smoothly before. Still found the occasional glitch which cause me to restart missions but apart from that it was very solid. Sitting at about 55% complete but won't be going for the 100%.

    So far this year:

    Remember Me
    Bioshock Infinite

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 698 ✭✭✭sin0city

    PS3

GTA V (mostly played in 2013)
    Rain

    Adding:
    Remember Me

    just finished bioshock 1

so long since I played this huge chunks of it were as new, I remembered sweet bugger all of the later parts of the game which was a huge plus as I got to experience it all again. Ridiculously great game, can't believe it's only six years old. I think I enjoyed it more this time than my first two because I've played system shock 2 now so the whole experience was kind of nostalgic even when I couldn't remember the levels I was on.

was going to play bioshock 2 next but tempted to give SS2 another run

Dark Souls and Dishonored. Both brilliant games in fact I might go finish them again

    Finally finished DmC, good craic.

Now I think it's time to tackle Ico

    bioshock 2

    meeeeeeeehh

starts off bad, so boring. middle is actually great fun and felt a lot like bioshock 1 and the ending was such a ****ing irritating slog i had to force myself to finish it. even on hardest it was far too easy a game, it threw first aid kits ammo and eve hypos at you at every possibly opportunity. I'd get down to only 1 med kit after the very occasional large fight but within 20 seconds I'd have found 5 more in my immediate vicinity.

i was actually feeling very positive about the game until the last couple of levels..maybe it would have been more pleasant overall if sofia and eleanor lamb would occasionally shut the **** up. At the end it's just dissapointing, not very good not terribly bad..just bland and vaguely irritating.. like eleanor lamb.

    -edit

holy ****, the game was only release 3 odd years ago? It feels like so much longer

    --edit

balls I forgot all about minervas den.

Zelda wind waker hd : amazing game , toon link ftw

Minervas den is great but it's worth taking a break before you go back.

Just finished The Last of Us. I may as well pack it in now, can't imagine ever playing another game that great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,223 ✭✭✭Michael D Not Higgins

Zelda Twilight Princess. Played half of it years ago so went back to finish it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,303 ✭✭✭Temptamperu

Borderlands 2 with commando, working through as a sniper now with added DLC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,952 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Finally finished Bastion, great game. One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Great style and classic gameplay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,449 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Finished X-Com enemy unknown. That was a slog!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,439 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

I'm adding to my list for 2014.

    Guacamelee [PS VITA]
    The Last of Us [PS3]
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds [3DS]
    Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

    Adding:

Ratchet & Clank: Nexus [PS3] - Better than recent entries in the series but too short and buggy to be on a level with A Crack in Time or Tools of Destruction.
