How well do you like your black/white pudding cooked

Making breakfast for few friends this morning & one commented that I had cremated the pudding. I think it's nearly impossible to overcook pudding. I like it really nice & crispy on the outside & sliced fairly thin.

Also wondering do you grill or fry you're pudding?

A fry is not a fry unless it is cremated.

Grilled, somewhat between the two options.

It is already cooked so sliced thickly and grilled till golden to reheat.

love the white pudding that is like a paste.... spread that over toast and lash on the rest with Heinz ketchup....unreal

I've heard you can eat black pud cold, as it's already cooked? I've never tried it cold, though. I'm always looking for black pud that's not all full of barley and pretending to be posh.

Better off spreading paté on your toast and not eating those awful paste-like puddings, at least the ones with cereals and grains have some nutritional value but the galtee type ones are just pulverised muck.

I prefer white pudding cooked a bit more, but black pudding tastes infinitely nicer just lightly heated through. It's delicious when just diced up and heated along with a tin of beans. People completely ruin it by frying

Try a local old time pork butchers, ask if they can get proper puddings with suet instead of all the barley.

Why isn't there an 'In the Bin' option? :(

I went through a phase of only eating grilled and smashed up black pudding on toated homemade brown bread with melted cheese to finish it off, it was yum.

I also eat it cold on a salad or sandwich. In an hour's time am having a few slices cooked slowly in the oven with some Pork Tenderloin.

Collected 8 rounds of Black and four of White from a butcher in Southie last weekend. So at one fry a week - that'll keep us going 'til about May :)

Because of my love of puddings I have not been able to watch Babe!

Poll lacks "keep that pudding the hell away from me" option.

How do people fry pudding? It'd only absorb the oil, go soggy and would be disgusting.

White pudding grilled until it's a bit crispy is unreal

One of my Aunt's english grandchildren was visiting and my Aunt was plating up the irish breakfasts. She asked the little girl if she would like some pudding. A huge smile appeared and a she said she would love pudding for breakfast.

Poor child was horified when she got breakfast puddings and not a dessert.

Rudds do a lovely one. Usually about 2.30 but Super Value and Centra often have them on offer for a euro.

Get pan smoking hot, then olive oil, give that few seconds to get to temp & then in with the pudding.

Pudding separates the men from the little fairy boys.

Black pudding, fried egg, proper brown bread and a gallon of tea. Get it into ya Cynthia!

You were doing so well until you mentioned ketchup.

Mustard FTW. And it has to be Colman's.

Failing that, Chef Brown Sauce will do.

I wouldn't shout too loudly about French's Deli Mustard there though.

black clonakilty, inch thick slices under the grill at high temp gives you crispy on the outside, but spreadable if you want to break it up on a slice of bread.

    Absolute...

A few slices of black pudding makes a simple meal of scrambled eggs on toast into the most amazing meal ever.

Discovered it just before Christmas for the first time too. Rudds have just recently made clonakilty redundant in our house.

Delicious. Little bit of a spicy kick to it too. Yum yum.

To answer the OP question though, grilled til slightly golden.

If you like it soft cut it thick and bake it. It's only way to go.
