Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Christmas is an old tradition which goes back to when women esp in agricultural communities did the bulk of the work for christmas and on the last day before the decorations were took down,
the women would get a thank you by being pampered and putting thier feet up while the men folk and the kids cooked dinner or by heading out for the day
to spend time with sisters and friends.

I know a few places which have deals on for dinner for the day and it can be great to catch up with the women in the family.

So do you or have you ever celebrated Nollaig na mBan?

Absolutely, my grandmother always marked it and it came down through the family. I'm having lunch with some dear friends, dinner won't be cooked by me and at night I'll sit with all my candles lighting, enjoying one last night of my decorations and a glass of wine, and will toast all the wonderful women in my life, past & present.

Decorations come down the 7th when Christmas is actually over.

The National Women's Council have released a publication today looking at what has changed
for irish women in the space of a generation.

Inspired by this thread, am having a ladies only party on Friday night.
From next year, will try to make it an annual thing on the 6th.

Anyone have any idea for entertainment for a party for just women?
To cater for all age groups.

A google search just returns Ann Summers party type nights.
I am not interested in that!

I spent this evening at a cup cake workshop, it was all women, it was fun baking, nattering and decorating and then we got to take them home.

A couple of restaurants I passed on my way had deals on.

That's a lovely idea Addle. I googled 'clean women's party ideas' and some of the following look interesting.

Lots of results for Christian bachelorette parties, so maybe try that search too. They aren't focused on religion, but more about having fun without Ann summers type games
