What is going on with Eircom lately ?

I don't know if this is ongoing with everyone, just me, or just the people in my general vicinity but for some reason lately (the last 3-4 months) my eircom connection has gone to the dogs.

Before all this started, I would routinely get 3-4 mb in a speed test but lately since all this ****e has started ive been getting between 0-1 mb which is ridiculous. Im in the Tramore area so I dunno whether its to do with their eFibre upgrades or what but as a gamer I'm sick of these connection issues and the 200+ ping.

Anyone else have these problems or have any answers ?

    /rant.

I have heard others with the same issue I'm guessing you have some serious lag for gaming.

Don't know if this is the same thing, but a few months back I had UPC looking to replace a faulty power supply for their BB modem which their technician said was interfering with the eircom Broadband signal in our estate ? the guy changed it and said now things were fine....

Huh? Is this in relation to a wireless (WiFi) router? Replacing the power supply?

The only explanations I have for that is that 1) UPC's explanation is bull**** or 2) The power supply adapter was emitting some frequency that interfered with an eircom customer's wireless network. I cant see why UPC came running on your doors either. I can't get my head around that.

UPC did a recall of bad power adapters. Well, it probably came down from Cisco. If you search its been mentioned a few times AFAIK.

Mine is just as bad and I never got more than 2-3mb or less lately although I am paying for 7 . If I call them I get up to 5mb for a couple of days and than back to **te. Would so love to move away from Eircom, but there is not much choice here in Kells.quote="iScopedThePope;88291742"]I don't know if this is ongoing with everyone, just me, or just the people in my general vicinity but for some reason lately (the last 3-4 months) my eircom connection has gone to the dogs.

    I'm getting the same issues.

Before last week, I would routinely get 657 KB/s down every evening, with around 53 KB/s up.
This week however, I can achieve this speed in the morning, but by the evening I am only getting around 83 KB/s.
I'm on a 6 meg profile with "Next Generation" broadband LOL.

Going to contact Eircom this evening.

Watching a film on netflix and it buffers on all devices i have.
Downloading a 2GB files takes nearly 5 hours.

    Not happy...
