apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to post..

I am a really bad flyer. Usually if im flying I take two xanax to help me relax.. But this would be on a flight to Spain.. Or (if im super lucky) America. Now my son (9) wants me to take him to Lego land which would mean a short flight to London. It would be just me and him going usually I travel with my husband and other teenage children. I really want to take him...but I am afraid of the flight... But if I take the tablets im afraid if im a bit out if it. I would usually sleep a good bit of the flight.. But as the London flight wouldn't be as long I don't want to be looking after him in London on my own out of it...... Any advice?

All you can do is just do it. You've heard it all before, but it's far far safer than driving. Nothing will happen.

You could try take something different like Rescue Remedy or Valerian. The flight to London is really short, I think you're in the air for only about 40 minutes. It may even do you wonders if you were able to cope with it without your meds and everything went fine, which of course it will, you may try your next longer distance flight med free too :)

OP, buy a pair of travel earplugs to help with the air pressure, you can buy them in Boots. I wouldn't bother taking them out on such a short flight. I know that won't solve all of your fear/anxiety but I find they do remove one of the causes of general discomfort associated with flying. The one pair will do for the round trip, then just throw them in the bin when you get home.

Are you travelling from Ireland? Why not take the boat and train?

A small dose of Xanax shouldn't really knock you out - tbh it has changed the way I look at flying - wonder drug if used sensibly and as prescribed IMO.
