DUB-LGW-LAS With Virgin Questions

Hi. I booked a trip to vegas with ebookers. I'm flying Dublin to Gatwick with Aer Lingus and onto Las Vegas with Virgin Atlantic. It's all on the one ticket. I've done connecting flights before but they've always been with the same airline so I'm Just wondering about a few things.

Will Aerlingus check my bags in the whole way and issue me with both boarding cards?

Will I have to pay for my bag for the aer lingus leg of my flight and whose baggage allowances apply?

Aer Lingus will check your bags the whole way and issue you with both boarding cards.

No, you won't have to pay for your bag on the Aer Lingus leg of your flight, Virgin Atlantic's baggage allowances will apply.

Thanks mrgg. I wasn't sure, I've a 2hour 40 min layover so if anything goes wrong I have a big of time to sort it out. Thanks

Can I hijack this thread for a minute please.
We're doing the same journeys(possibly same flights).Do we need to be in Dublin 2 or 3 hours before departure?

I would say you need to be walking into the airport at least 2 hrs before hand, and maybe a bit more. Don't underestimate the time it can take to check-in/bag drop and then get through security.

Also, leave plenty of time to get from the car park (assuming you are taking a car) to the airport.

Hi Betty. I was planning on being there 2 hours before, as you won't have US immigration and a second security checkpoint like you do with the direct US flight. So I'm thinking 2 hours will be plenty. When are you flying? I'm flying 22/3.

We're flying on the 2nd. I'll prob aim to be there 2.5-2 hours beforehand.

We did that exact route just over a year ago.

Were in DUB 2-3 hours in advance. Had similar layover in gatwick. We were checked straight through. Connections is to the left as you are heading towards customs/passport control. Mini security check there.

Border control was a b!tch for us though. Lot of flights landing round 2pm Vegas time.

If you can check in online upstairs on gatwick to Vegas leg.

Enjoy Vegas, don't lose your shirt ..... Pack a spare one.

For virgin airways you can don't need to. You can use flight connections check in.

Thanks Ted - and what about coming back?? My husband needs a visa for the UK and he can transit visa-free through the UK to the US but not through the UK on the way to Ireland.

We had Irish passports & used flight connections on way back. No idea about visa restrictions.
