    Howdy folks!

My laptop packed in and I've been thinking about switching over to a desktop again, finding it too hard to do much on the laptop and I don't travel with it enough to justify it. Torn between buying a second hand rig (there are some nice ones on adverts) or building myself. Took a look at prices in bricks and mortar stores in Dublin and they're crazy high.

    1. What is your budget? €800 - 1,000 max

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming - love to be able to run Skyrim, Rome 2, and latest FPS etc at good rates. Would also like to be able to use for some excel stuff (reasonably intensive, arrays etc). I'd also like the option of connecting a second monitor at some point, so I suppose that needs to be taken into account for the graphics card?

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Not sure - I have a copy of Windows 7 that I had on my laptop (which is dead so it'll never be used again) but I don't know if I can use it on another machine? If not, I need a copy.
    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Nope!

    5. Do you need a monitor? Yes!

5a. If yes, what size do you need. Not really sure - widescreen and high quality would be nice - would probably buy one second hand on adverts

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Need keyboard, mouse, wireless card.

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Sure

    8. How can you pay? Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser/Cash

    9. When are you purchasing? In 10 days

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Dublin City Centre. I think I could muddle through it myself, I can do stuff like remove and replace RAM/graphics cards/hard drives already, so I think I could figure it out if I had a guide to follow?
