As I'm sure many of you have heard already there are rumours about the newly opened site "The Hostel" that has been shut down due to not having Garda clearance. If these rumours prove to be true what do you all make of this and how it could potentially affect our sport?

I'd imagine it has little impact on the sport.

Unlicensed sites have existed previously, its a reflection on a poor business practice rather then the sport in general.

I'd imagine the site will be shut, and that individual forbidden from gaining further clearances to run sites anywhere else.

Granted the site owner is denying it, reliable sources seem to indicate that there was a lack of documentation and proper paperwork in place.

Genuinelly just see this as take name of site owner, dont go near his stuff again. Dont think it will blowback on the community at all to be honest.

A bloody awful shame. Was hoping to try the place out in the not to distant future. Looked like a very, very good site.

I'm sure all agree its a bad day when the community loses a site regardless of the circumstances.
I hope the matter is resolved and the proper guidelines are followed (if these are the facts)so the site might reopen soon.
I've never gamed there but was hoping to sometime this year, looked like a good site.

Wouldn't necessarily agree with that mate. I mean if they're running it illegally then it may effect the sport had it got out of hand. I don't know the story myself but if it was closed by the police to legitimate reasons than honestly I'd have to hand it to the Gardai for handling in a way they did. The only issue I can see from this is if the press, once again, want to make a story out of and have aheadline like 'illegal gun range closed' or some nonsense like that

To be honest all I've seen is them saying that there closed due to illness and should be open again on the 26th.
Beside this theres a number of people saying that they heard from there cousins dog that the site was closed by the guards. I've not see anyone actually say they were there or that there's any evidence of it actually happening.

I'd wait and see and not listen too much to the rumour mill. :)

A quick query to the local Garda in Carlingford or Omeath and ask if they have a Letter of Authorization from the Superintendent should clear it up for you if you have any doubts.

Really? I'd never have thought they'd answer that kind of thing to a random person.
Personally I'mwilling to just wait for them to reopen and assume there just sick since nothing officials available.

I'm under the impression this all started because a member of the community contacted the Gardaí enquiring about the paperwork and clearance for the site, which appears to be have been a resounding answer
