Hi, other half is on BTEA and is halfway through a degree.

This year he did work exp from Aug till now and is due to return to college for the next 12 weeks to complete 2nd year.

His work experience have asked him to stay on full time for the next year as he is part of a project with 12 months left on it.

If he defers college for 12 months will he be able to return to BTEA Sept 15?

He is going to check this out with the dole office once they reopen, but we guess the answer will be no,once you leave college BTEA will cease and as he will not be claiming JSA, he will never be entitled to BTEA again.

Has anyone any experience of this?

I can understand how you could defer college for illness and return to BTEA as you would be claiming a payment in the meantime, but as he wont be claiming I guess a return to BTEA is out.

    The answer would be No

It would in all likelihood mean an end to BTEA. If he really wants the job for the year and as the employers obviously want him to finish the project, then he should get them to agree in writing to cough up funding for him to finish his degree after this project.

Thanks for all the help, yes the answer is from the Social Welfare office was also no, once you take a full time job at any point, BTEA ends.
